Alistair Overeem offered as free downloadable fighter for UFC Undisputed 3
UFC 141 ended in Brock Lesnar’s retirement and a bad first impression for UFC on Xbox Live. It also opened the door to downloadable content for the upcoming UFC Undisputed 3. This game won’t be released until February 14, 2012, but you can secure one piece of DLC today in the form of Alistair Overeem.
Expect paid downloadable content from Nintendo in March
It’s about time Nintendo decided to come into the present when it comes to downloadable content. Nintendo has stayed away from paid DLC for a long time, but come this March, the streak will be broken.
The Gunstringer Real Big Shootin’ DLC coming to you December 15
The Gunstringer is getting its second batch of downloadable content on December 15 called Real Big Shootin’. For 240 Microsoft Points, Real Big Shootin’ is going to be a collection of shooting games that were created by “Mad Dog” McDog. McDog swears you aren’t as good a shooter as you think you are, and you have to prove him wrong.
Battlefield 3 gets DLC thanks to Dr. Pepper
EA and Dr. Pepper (the drink) have joined forces to bring exclusive DLC to Battlefield 3. This promotion works just like similar cross-branding agreements made between video game publishers and owners of food and beverage brands. On specially marked Dr. Pepper bottles, there will be a code that can be redeemed on Dr. Pepper’s website for in-game DLC such as dog tags, a multiplayer skin or dog tags. Every bottle contains a code, so there’s really no risk to this.
How do you make trains interesting? Add zombies
The video game industry’s fascination (and sometimes dependence) on zombies has reached a new level. No longer content with roaming the countryside or terrorizing cities, zombies have infiltrated the world of an interactive train simulator. Railworks 3: Train Simulator 2012 has gotten new DLC entitled Trains Vs. Zombies. If we weren’t staring at the Steam page for this game right now, we’d swear it was a joke. If you own Railworks 3: Train Simulator 2012, you can pick up the zombie-filled DLC for $4.99.
EA hopes to mend its broken promise with your money
PS3 owners have been spending so much time engaging the enemy in Battlefield 3 multiplayer, some have forgotten about a little promise EA made back in June. In an effort to step up sales of Battlefield 3 on PS3, EA said it would include a voucher to download Battlefield 1943. Of course if you purchased BF3 on PS3, that voucher is nowhere to be found. That’s because EA decided to squash the offer ahead of time. But don’t worry, EA has the perfect consolation.
WWE 12 Day 1 DLC includes Jim Ross, Michael Cole and Shawn Michaels
The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of WWE 12 are getting launch day downloadable content in the form of three playable characters. Classic Shawn Michaels, legendary commentator Jim Ross and fellow commentator turned quite capable heel Michael Cole will be added to the already fully packed WWE 12 roster.
GoW 3 RAAM’s Shadow DLC is a prequel to the franchise
The second helping of Gears of War 3 DLC will be a separate campaign that’s estimated to last around three hours. RAAM’s Shadow will be released on December 13 for 1,200 Microsoft Points ($15). Naturally, those who purchased the Gears of War 3 Season Pass won’t have to pay extra to get RAAM’s Shadow.
Uncharted 3 Fortune Hunters’ Club is your ticket to discounted DLC
Sony is giving potential buyers of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception a chance to secure DLC early. The Uncharted 3 Fortune Hunters’ Club is the latest effort from a gaming company to grab at your wallet in exchange for content that hasn’t been released yet. You see, the goal here is to get as much cash out of you while you’re still riding the Uncharted 3 hype train. That’s why access to the Fortune Hunters’ Club is now a pre-order from the PlayStation Store or through select retailers. Still, what Sony is offering is a good deal if you already know you’ll be buying DLC anyway.
