E3 2010: JoWooD reveals its games lineup
JoWooD Entertainment is among the many companies that will be making an appearance at E3 2010 this year, and it has just decided to reveal which games it is bringing to the event. There aren’t too many, but there’s still an admirable number of games to look at and oogle. The only thing is, there isn’t much information available yet on one of them.
The Guild 2: Renaissance is one of JoWooD’s E3 2010 lineup games, but there isn’t much information available on it yet. It’s a Windows PC game and follow up to The Guild, a strategy game and a stand-alone expansion. There’s no word yet on when it’ll be released, so we’ll have to wait for E3 for more information.
Here’s a look at the rest of JoWooD’s lineup! Remember – Dreamcatcher Games is part of JoWooD, so don’t be taken aback if you see it as the publisher for one of the following titles…
Yoga and the Hardy Boys heading for the Wii…separately
DreamCatcher Interactive and JoWooD Productions have announced they will be bringing Yoga for Wii and The Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft to the Nintendo Wii. Both games are currently under development and are set to be released Fall 2009.
Yoga for Wii will utilize the Wii Balance Board as players are guided through a variety of popular yoga exercises. A “yoga guru” will act as the player’s personal instructor and help monitor progress, making suggestions based on the player’s performance and computations taken from the Balance Board.
The Hardy Boys: The Hidden Theft comes about as the result of a partnership with Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing to develop a series of interactive games based on the Frank and Joe Hardy characters. Already available for Windows, Hidden Theft puts the young detectives at Spencer Mansion where a vault has been robbed and the police apparently need the help of teenage boys to tie-up some loose ends.
Gamertell Review: Safecracker for Wii
Late 2008, The Adventure Company re-released an updated Safecracker for the Nintendo Wii. And why not? The game is well suited to the casual side of the Wii audience, puzzle interaction can be easily handled with the Wii Remote, and if you add a Z to the end of the name, the Safecracker(z) will fit in quite well with the other Wii games on the shelf at GameStop.
Safecracker succeeds at being a fun diversion for puzzle gamers. The puzzles are varied in both structure and difficulty, and the graphics are very attractive in a static/dated sort of way. You may spend more time exploring and less time puzzle-solving than you’d like, and there’s absolutely no replay value (unless you wait until you’ve forgotten the solutions), but you’ll constantly feel rewarded when you’ve finally cracked a puzzle…
Dreamcatcher announces Painkiller: Overdose
The latest Painkiller game, Painkiller: Overdose, was announced by DreamCatcher Interactive and JoWooD at E3 2007.
The game will be released for Windows in October 2007 and include 6 new weapons, improved physics, more than 40 monsters and even bigger level bosses. The storyline will be a prequel to the previous Painkiller games (because we can never seem to have enough prequels) and is supposed to tie up all the loose ends (including the repercussions of Daniel defeating Lucifer in the original game).
Other features will include…
