Buy your Harry Potter movies before December 29, 2011

Well Potter fans, it may be time to adjust your holiday wish lists. Warner Bros. has decided it wants to be a buzzkill by locking away every Harry Potter movie ever. Yes, this is for real. The company has decided that if people don’t buy physical copies of the eight movies before December 29, 2011, they won’t be able to buy them at all. After date, they’ll stop being shipped to stores.

It’s quite ridiculous and seems like Warner Bros. has planned this in an attempt make people scramble and buy the physical copies of the Harry Potter movies so the company can make a quick buck…

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Collector’s Edition costs $150

So, everyone is excited about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It’s a huge game from a notable developer, Bethesda, and it has one of the coolest release dates you can get (November 11, 2011). Which means a lot of people may just be devoted enough to spring for a rather extravagent collector’s edition version of the game.

The PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows version of Skyrim normally costs $59.99…

Wii U won’t play DVD movies

The response to the Wii U was a mixed bag of intrigue and confusion. Nintendo didn’t do a good job at its E3 2011 press conference in explaining all the hardware aspects of the Wii U. Nintendo was more interested in hyping up its big-screened controller. Outside of tech demos and a sizzle reel that didn’t show any Wii U gameplay footage, we don’t have a good idea of what the Wii U is actually capable of. Nintendo did release some hardware specifications about the Wii U, but specs alone aren’t everything.

Alternate Disc-tractions: Green Hornet Blu-ray, DVD, Digital Download review

“Saving the Day the Wrong Way” was not only the movie’s slogan but its MO as well. Read on to find out why…

Bethesda celebrating 5th anniversary of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Good news if you haven’t purchased The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in the last five years since it was released in 2006. Bethesda’s preparing a really special release for you! It’s called The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition and it’s shaping up to be the ultimate Oblivion release…

Alternate Disc-Tractions: TRON Legacy 2-Movie Collection on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital Download

Thank you. Thank you all for helping me enjoy TRON: Legacy.

The combination of my almost life-long anticipation of a TRON sequel, amazing visuals and the seemingly universal disappointment of TRON: Legacy theatrical release gelled into rather unexpected enjoyment of TRON: Legacy on home video.

Alternate Disc-Tractions: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on Blu-ray, DVD review

While the length and pacing may tire younger, modern viewers now used to more frenetic films, there is little reason to not get this on Blu-ray. It looks amazing, is packed with extra features and still a fun film at its core. It’s silly, sweet and worth watching again. Especially as an adult. Find out why…

Netflix reveals streaming-only plan, increases prices on other plans

Netflix is available on every home videogame console. The Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii can stream Netflix content over the internet for a low monthly fee. Netflix started out as a company that was a replacement for traditional video stores. With Netflix, there are no late fees and you can keep DVDs for as long as you want. These days, Netflix is geared more towards online streaming. Streaming is so popular, Netflix has created a new subscription option just for streaming video.

Witcher 2 collector’s edition is $129.99, out May 17, 2011

If you want the collector’s edition of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, start saving. CD Projekt and Atari’s PC RPG will be out May 17, 2011, so that will be plenty of time to get the $129.99 you need. Yes, you read that correctly – $129.99. And most of the items you get with it will probably be only used or looked at once, then back in the box for storage. You’ll probably even forget about them…
