IndieCade reveals event details, ticket information for 2010 festival
The International Festival of Independent Games (IndieCade) has announced details on this year’s festival, which will take place on October 8-10 in Culver City, California. As the name suggests, IndieCade highlights the work of independent and aspiring game developers around the world.
What you missed at E3 2010: Orks and Mechs (Video)
THQ was big on the mascots at E3 2010. When I say big, I mean that in the most literal sense possible. We captured around a minute of footage of a walking Ork and a semi-operational mech from Red Faction Armageddon.
What you missed at E3 2010: The Homefront invasion (with video)
Beneath the South Hall of the LA Convention Center there was an army. I’m talking about an army of persons who were unaffected by the huge screen projecting a trailer for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. Any human being who can turn a blind eye to light sabers and force lightning much have gone through intensive training. I present to you the army inspired by the upcoming game Homefront.
Guess the Marvel Super Hero Squad Online character
At E3, those who visited the Marvel Super Hero Squad Online booth got a free poster and a comic book. It’s not really a comic book but rather a booklet advertising the game made to look like a comic book.
E3 2010: Hands-on with Vindictus
Nexon had three playable MMOs on display at E3 2010, and Gamertell got to test out each one. So far we’ve gone over Dungeon Fighter Online and Dragon Nest, so it’s time to look at what Vindictus had to offer. Like all Nexon games, Vindictus is free to play, and should be available for everyone before the end of 2010.
The Vindictus demo at E3 offered two playable characters to choose from, Lann and Fiona…
E3 2010: Hands-on Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar
I think we’ve already established that Natsume’s booth at E3 2010 was one of my favorite spots. One of the main reasons was the fact that a new Harvest Moon DS game was on display. Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar comes out July 27, 2010, so of course it was playable on the show floor.
Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar takes place in Zephyr Town, which looks like a quaint European village. You choose a hero or heroine, and once again set off to build a thriving farm and family. There are all new townsfolk, with new bachelors and bachelorettes to win over in this new addition, with a new art style for character portraits as well.
Whoever had played the demo before me had begun planting a field of turnips…
E3 2010: Hands-on Rune Factory 3: a Fantasy Harvest Moon for DS
Natsume’s booth at E3 this year was packed with cute, adorable games. One of the games I tried out was Rune Factory 3: a Fantasy Harvest Moon.
For those of you unfamiliar with the series, Rune Factory is basically Harvest Moon with rpg elements. Along with harvesting crops, your goal is also to fight monsters, buy weapons, and level up. You can even grow medicines and antidotes that you can sell or keep and use in combat.
The goal of the game is to get the humans and the monsters to get along (since they have been feuding for so long), or at least get them to team up to rid the world of evil. Maisu, the main character, is the best choice for this because he is half human and half monster and can change between forms with the “Transformation Belt”.
E3 2010: Hands-on with Dragon Nest
One of Nexon’s playable MMOs at E3 2010 was Eyedentity Games’ Dragon Nest, a MMORPG with a few FPS elements to it. Nexon published the game in Korea, and is going to be publishing it in North America as well sometime in 2011. While the general public won’t be playing it until next spring, I got to spend a little time with it on one of the computers set up at Nexon’s booth.
The first thing you notice about Dragon Nest are the graphics and presentation. Everything is very polished and flashy. You can tell all the characters and monsters were inspired by JRPGs, because they look like they were plucked straight from an anime or manga series…
Why the Wii Vitality Sensor was absent from E3
Nintendo has yet to win us over with the Vitality Sensor. When we first saw this device at E3 2009, we felt that is was another NIntendo gimmick that would fizzle out sooner rather than later. Since then we haven’t heard much about its development. The Vitality Sensor was also no where to be found at E3 2010. Nintendo didn’t even mention it in passing.
PlayStation Store Update: Tons of E3 Videos and Bonus Content (June 16 to June 22, 2010)
This is one of the biggest PlayStation Store weekly updates thanks to E3 2010. There’s GundeadliGne, Tehra Dark Warrior, price updates, plenty of new downloadable games and demos, new avatars, more bonus content, a massive list of game videos and, as usual, digital comics.
