Learning about animals is always better when there are Muppets involved. Jim Henson’s The Song of the Cloud Forest and Animal Show with Stinky and Jake are two new DVD’s about our favorite animals and the rainforest. Children can enjoy watching the zany antics of puppets and animals, while learning some valuable lessons in the process.
The two DVD’s offer several different episodes to watch, each talking about different species of animals from our friends at the rain forest, to Africa’s finest. There are also plenty of songs to keep you entertained and educated…

Earth Day 2009: Green gaming roundup
Earth Day 2009 is upon us (celebrate it, you’ll be there any way) which means it’s time to look at some of the green-themed initiatives in the gaming world.
As you might recall, last year on Earth Day (2008) the price of gas skyrocketed so that a new, retail-priced game could actually cost you less than a tank of gas. We’re not quite there again (yet) but we can still think a little greener today by saving the gas by staying home and playing games with green themes. hre’s also a lot of downloadable games that don’t require any shipping (more gas) or packaging (plastic, which is based on oil).
Also don’t forget to check your favorite MMO as it will certainly include some type of avatar garb, exclusive item or fun-time recycling minigame (and then let us know so we can all give it a go).
Happy Earth Day: Most games now cost less than a tank of gas
It’s Earth Day 2008 (April 22, 2008) and the average price of gas around my town (near Cincinnati, Ohio) has finally reached $3.60 per gallon. That means a 14-gallon fill-up now costs $50.40. Yep, the price of the average console videogame.
Which will you try to spend less on, games or gas? Will gamers across the country buy one less game a year to have enough money to drive to work one extra week?
Consider this: Staying home and playing videogames means less time on the road which translates into less time quickly consuming automobile fuel (and polluting)…
Four games that go Green
The current trend is to try and go Green to help conserve natural resources and protect the Earth. It should come as no surprise that video games have been going Green for years. Quite a few titles convey Earth friendly messages to players in both subtle and not-so-subtle ways.
Their methods may occasionally be unconventional, but at least they’re putting a positive message out there. In order to celebrate Earth Day (which happens to be today, April 22, 2008), Gamertell is going to salute Captain Planet and the Planeteers, Final Fantasy VII, Chibi Robo!: Park Patrol and Eco Creatures: Save the Forest, just a few of the Earth-friendly games which have appeared over the years.
Each game will also be thoroughly analyzed to see just how effective its methods and execution are. After that, the games will be ranked in shades of green, based on the crayon colors shown at Crayola’s website.
