Exchange cruddy games for these three worthwhile Wii titles

We all have aunts and uncles who just don’t quite get it. They never stick to your wish list, and they never check Gamertell for sound advice. And so, you end up with “Scene It: Twilight” because “…that’s popular with you kids now, right?” Well, let’s turn lemon into lemonades, as your aunt and uncle would say, and put those exchanges (or gift cards) to good use on great Wii games you may have missed this year.

Warner Bros. DVD2Blu program offers cheap DVDs to Blu-ray movie upgrades

If you are trying to replace all those standard definition DVDs with higher def Blu-ray discs, Warner bros. wants to help. Well, at least with their own movies.

Dubbed the DVD2Blu program, you send your old DVDs (sans box) to WB, pay a replacement fee ($7.95 to $9.95) per movie and the company will send you a Blu-ray version of the movie.

There are currently 55 movies on the DVD2Blu list to choose from and, if you spend more than $25, they waive the shipping cost. That basically means you need to find three or four movies to replace, depending on the replacement cost.

Toys ‘R’ Us trying to be tops for game trade-ins

Gamers that have been trading in games to GameStop, Blockbuster and similar stores will be pleasantly surprised at some of the deals Toys ‘R’ Us is offering in its rookie year of game trading.

A $60 game purchase commonly garners between $20 and 25 in trade credit if one were to take it back the following day to most stores. Toys R’ Us is offering a whopping $41.50 in trade for the PlayStation 3 version of recently released racer Dirt 2. The mega hit Batman: Arkham Asylum will net you $43.50 on PS3.

Activision is offering a refund to Wii gamers who have issues with the game’s promised audio – the Wii version only outputs mono sounds while the game’s box promises Dolby Pro Logic II surround sound. A class-action suit was also brought against Activision for reneging on its promise of Dolby Digital sound in December 2007.

The publisher might have backtracked on its promise of digital sound but it has kept its promise of…
