The Sims Medieval gets a Pirates and Nobles adventure pack

Even though The Sims Medieval hasn’t really been a huge hit with tons of sales and rave reviews, it’s still been performing rather admirably. Well enough to merit an expansion pack, at least. Of course, the fact that it is an EA game and has Sims in the title should have been enough to tell you that EA wasn’t going to just release a base game. No, EA loves to get extra money for minor updates, which is why it’s going to release The Sims Medieval: Pirates and Nobles on August 30, 2011.

Now, we all know that The Sims Medieval: Pirates and Nobles is an expansion pack. EA wants to refer to it as an Adventure Pack instead, so lets humor them…

Grow up with The Sims 3 Generations

The Sims’ world is expanding again. EA has just announced yet another add-on for The Sims 3. It’s not a stuff pack this time, but a full fledged expansion called Generations. It sounds like this is the pack for people who like to use their game to create intricate stories for their sims, as some of the heralded additions include a new way to manage memories and capture footage of their virtual people…

The Sims 3 and Sims 3 Ambitions are Amazon’s Deal of the Day

Amazon’s trying to promote virtual life today, with a Sims 3-themed deal of the day. The Sims 3 is on sale for $29.99 and The Sims 3 Ambitions, the series’ most recent expansion pack, is $23.99. Normally, The Sims 3 is $49.99 and Ambitions is $39.99.

If you’re having deja vu, it’s easily explained…

Vampire invade The Sims 3 Late Night

The Sims 3 Ambitions is so last month. It’s all about The Sims 3 Late Night now. EA’s just announced that there’ll be another new expansion pack for the Windows and Mac game out this year, hopefully before Fall 2010 ends. Big surprise…

Amazon holding one day sale on Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age: Origins Awakening

Amazon should just declare today BioWare day. If you’ve missed out on Dragon Age: Origins, the Dragon Age: Origins expansion pack Awakening and/or Mass Effect 2, you can catch up for cheap if you hurry! Amazon’s video game Deal of the Day for June 28, 2010 are all three games for multiple platforms.

If you want Dragon Age: Origins for the PS3, Xbox 360 or your Windows PC, you can get it for $10 off the normal price. So the console versions will be $39.99 each and the PC version will be $29.99. If you really want to maximize your experience, you can also pick up the expansion pack, Awakening, for all three systems as well. Once again, they’re $10 off the normal price, which makes the console versions and PC version $29.99 each.

If Mass Effect 2 is your thing, get ready to save on that too…

Who’s On Crack in video games for March 26, 2010

Welcome to the first installment of Who’s On Crack (in video games), a concept rudely stolen, er, politely borrowed from another site. The basic idea is this: People do crazy schtuff. Companies, which are run by people, do crazy stuff on a much larger scale. And when you mix fantasy worlds, die-hard fandom and entertainment industry PR, even crazier stuff happens.

The Sims 3 new expansion pack gets ambitious

EA has just announced another The Sims 3 expansion pack. I know, it’s shocking. I’ll give you a moment to process it.

It’s expected, considering how many expansions The Sims (7) and The Sims 2 (8) had. The Sims 3: Ambitions is all about jobs. Hey, World Adventures don’t just finance themselves!

The Sims 3: Ambitions will not only add lots of extra jobs though, it will also allow players to follow their sims while they are at work. This is a first for the series, as normally sims will just get in a car, head to work, and then time will speed up until the work day ends. Now, players will get to see their sims work and decide how to handle situations at their jobs. This will effect their character’s career success.

The press release also mentions a handful of the new careers that will be included in the expansion. Here’s a quick list…

Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening marks beginning of Dragon Age: Origins expansions

Dragon Age: Origins may be a Bioware game, but its also an EA game. So, it shouldn’t be any surprise to anyone that the wave of expansion packs is about to begin. EA and Bioware have announced that the first Dragon Age: Origins expansion pack, Awakening, will be released on March 16, 2010, for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. There’s a little bit of a shock though, concerning the price. While most expansion packs typically cost about half of the price of the original game, Awakening will cost $39.99.

I suppose the price makes sense in a way, since Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening sounds like it’s almost a whole new game. You’re a Grey Warden Commander who must resurrect the order of Grey Wardens, while also discovering why there are still darkspawn around and what to do with them. You can either use your existing character from Dragon Age: Origins or create an entirely new one…

Rumor: Left 4 Dead 2 downloadable content might feature Midnight Riders

Left 4 Dead is a series that can live on for years through downloadable content. Killing zombies with friends is fun no matter where the setting happens to be. Left 4 Dead 2 has only been out for a hot second and our brows are already raising in curiosity after looking at a teaser site for Midnight Riders.

This could be a hint of upcoming downloadable content or we could just be getting our hopes up. However we do have good reason to believe our crazy ideas.

Sims go around the world with the first Sims 3 expansion pack

That was quick. EA has already announced the first Sims 3 expansion pack. Of course, we all knew this announcement was coming. Honestly, I think it’s a bit tardy. After all, the game came out June 2, 2009. The expansion announcement should have come July 3, not August 3, 2009. Somebody’s slipping.

Anyways, the first Sims 3 expansion will be called The Sims 3 World Adventures, and it’ll be released November 16, 2009. A price hasn’t been announced yet. What has been announced that it will be a PC/MAC release, come with 1,000 SimPoints and that the online Sims Store will be carry new, expansion pack-required items when it’s released…
