E3 2010: Hands-on with Fable III

Fable III was displayed at E3 this year, and I got to briefly check it out. The game takes place about 50 years after Fable II, and you play as the offspring of your character from Fable II. If you still have a saved game from Fable II with your child’s data, Fable III can use that data. Unlike the previous game in which you started out poor, in Fable III you’re royalty, with your older brother as the king. Unfortunately he’s a dick tyrant, so it’s up to you to knock him off the throne and claim it for yourself.

GamesCom 2009: Fable II to become an episodic adventure and Fable III will be out in 2010

If you’re an Xbox 360 owner and Fable fan, there’s some great news that’s come out of GamesCom 2009. Microsoft and Lionhead Studios have big plans for the hallmark series, involving Xbox Live Arcade and an entirely new entry.

First, Fable III is in development and will be released for the 2010 holiday season. I know, it’s a long wait. But look at it this way – Fable III allows you to load your Fable II save data into the game, so your new hero/heroine is the child of your old character. It’s good motivation to finish the Fable II.

While Fable II was about heroism, Fable III is all about royalty…

Opinion: Fable 2 on the PC is a smart business decision

Money’s tight. Even if people’s jobs are secure, they’re still cutting back. And then there are those who have been the casualties of cut backs. People aren’t going to be thinking about spending $200, $300 or $400 on a new console bundle, no matter how much they need an escape.

Fable II for the PC would be the smart thing to do. While people aren’t willing to spend an extravagent amount of money on a console, $40 for a game for a computer they already own could be an easier decision to make. It could even be considered a smart decision.

Fable II is a massive game that could take a player weeks, or even months to complete. Since it’s an open-ended title, it could even keep a player satisfied for years. People would be willing to invest in it, knowing that would not only provide an escape and stress relief, but would continue to do so for a substantial length of time…

Villains Rule: 11 games that let players be bad

Ah, villainy. A sacred and necessary vocation. After all, if there’s no antagonist, what’s the protagonist supposed to do all day, stay at home growing crops, raising animals and making friends with the neighbors? Inconceivable! Even when that situation arises, some ill-intentioned individual pops up and turns some earth goddess to stone.

While players typically rejoice after vanquishing a particularly evil and challenging nemesis, it isn’t uncommon to have a soft spot in your heart for the baddie. After all, he’s just doing his job. Maintaining balance and such. Plus, he represents a way of life people don’t get to experience.

Perhaps this is why gamers enjoy games where the villain is the star. For a brief moment, players get to see how the other side lives by vicariously living through an evil-doer who can be bumbling, sympathetic, humorous or down-right nasty.

So today, Gamertell’s going through, in no particular order, 10 games where players get to ditch their consciences and let loose, if only for a little while…

Molyneux says PC game market in “tatters”, PCGA disagrees

As the key person responsible for a slew of classic PC games including Black & White and Dungeon Keeper, Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux has a unique insight into the PC game market that few others can match. With his recent focus on the highly anticipated Xbox 360 exclusive Fable II Molyneux told VideoGamer that he believes the PC game market is “in tatters,” pointing towards a…

Fable II teased at E3 2008

One of the must-see titles coming out of this year's E3 (2008) is the sequel to the original Xbox action RPG Fable II. Fable II will be released October 2008 exclusively for the Xbox 360.

Fable II allows the player to make decisions that seriously impact how the in-game world perceives the player’s character. You can choose to be an average citizen complete with a family, or become an epic hero (or villain) in the land of Albion.

Fable II takes place more than 500 years after the original. After creating a character, you’re free to roam about and get into as much trouble as you see fit. You’ll also get a…
