Final Fantasy XIV has not been a high point for Square Enix. After the game was released, critics and fans slammed it for having numerous problems. Square Enix knew the game was seriously flawed and decided to restructure the development team to create the true version of FFXIV. For the past several months, Square Enix has not charged players a subscription fee for FFXIV while the team continued to make improvements through updates. In a letter to fans, Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada detailed the future of FFXIV including the end of the free period, and an update on its PS3 release.

Final Fantasy XIV is perhaps one of the biggest disappointments of 2010. These changes have also led to a delay of FFXIV for PS3.

E3 2010: Hands-on with Final Fantasy XIV

During E3 2010, I got some hands-on time with the upcoming MMO Final Fantasy 14. Final Fantasy 14 will be available for the PC and PS3 sometime in the undetermined future. My time with FFXIV was relatively short and extremely controlled. I did however come back with some impressions to share with you all. Keep in mind FFXIV is still in its alpha stage and has a lot of bugs to work out.
