Cloud, Sephiroth, Aerith, Tifa and Vincent LittleBigPlanet 2 DLC coming next week
Prepare yourself, because something momentous is going to happen. I’m actually going to buy extra LittleBigPlanet character costumes. That’s because Sony has just announced Final Fantasy VII Sackboy costumes for LBP and LBP 2. No! Don’t go running to your PS3 right now! The costume packs aren’t up yet. They’re being added to the PlayStation Store on July 13, 2011.
This is the first time Sackboy will be able to dress up as Final Fantasy characters…

Important Importables: Video game drinks
Video game publishers often team up with other companies for promotions to highlight their newest games, a practice that’s seen throughout the world. However, games and drink partnerships are much more common in Japan. They’re also more diverse.
Game and drink promotions in North America most often amount to a soda company, like Mountain Dew, teaming up with a developer. In Japan, coffee, energy health drinks and soda companies all work with publishers to get specialized products out there.
This week, Important Importables is taking a look at some of the more notable Japanese video game and drink collaborations…

The PlayStation Store has a new section for E3 2009 games, wallpapers and videos for download especially PlayStation 1 Classics that fans of Final Fantasy and Medal of Honor series have been waiting for. Not to mention a few freebies and trailers for upcoming games.

10 PlayStation games that deserve to be North American PSOne Classics
Thanks to Virtual Console and the PlayStation Store, people are being granted access to great, classic video games that they may have missed. The sad thing is, while Virtual Console is redistributing games at a steady pace, PSOne Classics are trickling out.
There’s a huge catalog of PSOne games available, and many of them are fantastic and revolutionary titles. Gamertell decided it was time to look back at some of the amazing games released for the PlayStation and pick out ones that deserve PSOne Classic status.
This is not a complete list. The original PlayStation was home to many wonderful, trailblazing games. Resident Evil, Parasite Eve, Chrono Cross, Tomba, Twisted Metal, Guilty Gear… the list goes on and on. Here, we’re just looking at some of the absolute best games…
Japanese PSN store gets Final Fantasy VII
Squaresoft’s (now Square-Enix) Final Fantasy VII is finally available on the PlayStation Network Store, if you’re in Japan, that is.
Final Fantasy VII International is available on the service for 1,500 yen (approximately US$14.93) which completely beats the prices people charge on eBay. The international version is a remake of the original Japanese one that includes tweaks (according to Gamesutra, the tweaks were included in the materia system, the menu display, and an extra cutscene) that were included in the game when it was brought over to North American shores back in 1997.
Open letter to Square Enix: Thanks for The After Years, now let’s see Before Crisis
Hi Square-Enix,
How’ve you been? Eidos take-over going well? I can’t wait to see Lara Croft in Kingdom Hearts.
Listen, I really want to thank you for the forthcoming Wii version of Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. Really. I never buy cell phone games and don’t own an iPhone, so I was worried that you’d have put it on one of those portable systems and I’d never get to play it.
But you came through like a champ – choosing to release all of the episodes/chapters/segments of Final Fantasy IV: The After: Tsuki no Kikan on the Wii. I can’t wait to see what adventures Cecil and Rosa’s son Ceodore will get into, why the second Lunarian Moon is appearing in the sky again and how he, the new heroes and the returning heroes will once again save the world.
Rest assured – it’s a day-one purchase for me.
But – there’s always a “but” – I’m still troubled. Perplexed even.
Where’s a localized version of Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII?
Best Buy’s sign blunder stirs up interesting blog chatter, store denies typo
What in the world is wrong with Best Buy getting all the Final Fantasy fanatics like myself stirred up? When I heard that Best Buy was releasing a Final Fantasy VII remake for the Playstation 3, I was ready to hop into my car – fluffy blue bunny slippers, powder-blue bunny pajamas and all – to speed down there to make reservations.
You would think Final Fantasy fans worldwide would know when the best game in the series is going to be released. We watch Square-Enix site for any tidbit of news the company has. No joke, check out this video someone took of an actual sign at Best Buy…
Europe gets Crisis Core PSPs
I wonder if, in Square Enix’s eyes, North America has fallen from grace. That’s the only explanation I can find for both Europe and Japan receiving the special Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII PSP and game bundle. That’s right – the exclusive, elusive bundle that includes a silver PSP with Sephiroth, Zack and Cloud’s faces and the Crisis Core game will be available in Europe on June 20, 2008 for €189.99 ($295.58).
North America did not receive the bundle, and there have been no Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII bundle announcements for that region. Instead, North Americans can find solace in the God of War or Star Wars special PSP bundles that feature PSPs with engravings of Kratos or Darth Vader. Of course we all know the Sephiroth/Zack/Cloud PSP is cooler, but at least North Americans have something.
