Five 3DS augmented reality games you didn’t know about

The 3DS has some augmented reality games that takes advantage of its rear cameras. One such game turns a surface into an arena with targets to shoot. The targets will appear all over, and sometimes you have to move around the table (or whatever the surface is) to get a clean shot. There are other AR games that came to Wired’s attention that Nintendo hasn’t announced. It’s possible these games won’t make it onto the final hardware.

Sony Home Update: Gone Fishing!

This week there’s a new personal space that is so calm and tranquil, I actually fell asleep to the peaceful sounds of chirping birds and the rushing waterfall beneath my new virtual home. The views are breath-taking and the fishing mini-game can even take your mind off of the snow and harsh winds blowing outside your real home. The Waterfall Terrace is available at the Real Estate Store at the Mall for $4.99. The furniture bundle is also available at either the Real Estate store or Furniture 1 store.

Title: Sea Life SafariPrice: 800 Microsoft Points (US$10)System(s): Xbox LiveRelease Date: June 18, 2008Publisher (Developer): Sierra Online (Wanako)ESRB Rating: “Everyone”Pros: Some nice graphics and potentially entertaining for young gamers who like to collect stuff.Cons: Too short, a bit too easy, promotes throwing stuff at fish and an awkward representation of photo judgment.Overall Score: One thumb sideways, one thumb down; 69/100; D+; * 1/2 out of five.

Forget the breathing apparatus. Never mind chartering a potentially expensive boat. Don’t even worry about a stinky wetsuit. Sea Life Safari widdles down a tour of the colorful sea floor to a few voyeuristic minutes without the expensive hassles. Instead, you float around and simply take pictures of just about everything that moves and the entire game lasts about as long as your average diving cylinder.
