2K Marin re-imagining X-COM franchise
If you have been dying to get your hands on yet another game from an earlier era brought forth to the forefront of the current generation, 2K Marin has just the game for you: X-COM.
If Bethesda’s version of Fallout has taught this industry anything, it’s that isometric games being brought to the first-person viewpoint are automatic gold.
That’s what we learned from that, right?
Gamertell Review: Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil Zero for Wii
Despite its obvious faults, I didn’t mind working through this game because I’ve never played it before. As fan of the series, I felt I had to. But you have to go in understanding what the Resident Evil Archives series is. You’re not going to get enhanced graphics. You’re not going to get Wii motion controls. What you’re going to get is an old game that you can play on a modern system.
EA’s CEO wants to bring back Mirror’s Edge
Often criticized for releasing the same type of games year after year, Electronic Arts gave us one of 2008′s truly unique games in Mirror’s Edge.
And the gaming consumers let out a collective yawn.
Despite so-so sales, EA CEO John Riccitiello remains committed to this new property…
Kobe Bryant stars in NBA 2K10, now with more realistic jaw jutting
Los Angeles Lakers’ star and 2009 NBA Finals’ MVP Kobe Bryant is the cover boy for Take-Two’s NBA 2K10. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, he makes a pretty effective pitchman as well.
Bryant told the LA Times this latest incarnation of digital basketball is so realistic it’s “like practicing without getting hurt.” The superstar comes from a family of gamers as he said his father, uncle, sister and six of his cousins all played the NES classic Double Dribble back in the day. That game had no NBA license and players with virtually no distinctive characteristics. These days, designers can make incredible replicas of our favorite athletes and Bryant’s game representation reflects his unique mannerisms. The virtual Bryant even juts his jaw out during crunch time the same way the real All-Star guard does.
Gamertell Review: The Horus Heresy: False Gods by Graham McNeill
Title: The Horus Heresy: False GodsAuthor: Graham McNeillPublisher: The Black LibraryRelease Date: 2006Price: $7.99Rating: One thumb up and one down, 79/100, C+, ** 1/2 out of five.Pros: Incredible writing, great story, memorable characters are built up more, hard-hitting descriptionCons: Same problem most sequels have. Too much attention to smaller details and it occasionally blocks out the story. Also inconsistently deals with characters.Overall: It’s full of flaws but for a sequel it’s worth the money.
With False Gods, Graham McNeil has written a great second installment to the Horus Heresy series that tries too hard to outshine Dan Abnett’s Horus Rising.

A quick look at the Night Watch franchise: Four books, two movies and a game
In 1998 Sergei Lukyanenko created a dark fantasy mystery-thriller franchise that will grow to include four books, two movies and a computer game.
This Russian craze is known as World of Watches and began with the book Night Watch released in 1998 and translated into English in 2006. The movie Night Watch was released in 2004, two years earlier than English translation of the book. The move is quite incredible although it is a bit bizarre and only loosely based on the book.
The franchise will soon be expanded further with the fourth book titled Final Watch being released in English October 2, 2008, and a second movie tentatively titled Twilight Watch and released in 2009.
The PC game Night Watch, developed by Nival Interactive and released in the United States on June 29, 2006, follows both the books and the film. The game is a weird mixture of strategy and role-playing that plays out like…

Analysis: Bratz might be going broke
The past year hasn’t been too kind for the Bratz franchise. It was just last summer (2007) that Bratz made its debut on the big screen and was widely reviled by critics nationwide as one of the year’s worst films and failed to break $10 million dollars. Now, word comes that Ubisoft, the third-largest game publisher in the industry has won a $13 million payoff from MGA Entertainment, the makers of the popular Bratz line of toys.
The court battle had been fought over the sudden termination of the license that was moved over to THQ back in 2003. Before the breaking of the agreement, Ubisoft had been publishing Bratz games for the…
