From Software unleashes devious punishment on early Dark Souls players
Dark Souls developer From Software has earned a reputation for challenging players. So the penalty it has reportedly cooked up for players that have an early copy of the game doesn’t surprise me. Edge picked up on a story from Japanese gaming blog Esuteru. Apparently From Software is using the Dark Souls feature that allows other players to enter your game to populate it with maximum level Black Phantoms.
Demon’s Souls servers will still be online in 2012
Atlus has just reaffirmed its commitment to PS3 owners who happened to pick up From Software’s Demon’s Souls. The servers for the game’s network functions are going to remain online. Originally, Atlus was saying it would only offer online functionality until October 2011, to mark the two year anniversary of it’s October 6, 2009 release. Now, it’s decided to offer service until sometime in 2012.
You’re probably wondering why this is important…
Japan Import: Dark Souls will be one week late
Dark Souls won’t be frustrating and challenging Japanese gamers exactly when it was supposed to. It turns out that there is going to be a very slight delay. It’s only one week though, so the game will be out on September 22, 2011 instead of September 15. Which really isn’t a big deal. I mean, it’s only seven days.
What is odd is that there isn’t any real reason given for said delay…
E3 2011: Dark Souls is fair yet punishingly difficult
Demon’s Souls was a game that inspired a serious love-hate relationship. It’s fun but maddening in that it will kick the butt of even the most experienced player.
There’s no telling how many PlayStation 3 controllers met an untimely demise due to getting thrown in frustration.
Now Xbox 360 owners will share in the anguished cries as spiritual Demon’s Souls successor Dark Souls will be multiplatform. The game’s designers pride themselves on being tough but fair.
Get the Dark Souls Collector’s Edition for $59.99
During Namco Bandai’s Level Up in Dubai press conference yesterday, we learned that From Software’s Dark Souls, the Demon’s Souls follow up, would be out in October 2011 and have some kind of pre-order incentive. Namco Bandai has followed up with more information and I think a lot of people are going to want to pre-order Dark Souls for the PS3 or Xbox 360. After all, it’s not every day that you get a limited edition for a standard edition price.
Yes, that’s the incentive this time around…
Dark Souls isn’t a sequel to Demon’s Souls, but it is more difficult
When Dark Souls was officially announced, I felt a sense of excitement and dread. Demon’s Souls was the kind of game I really respected, but loathed at the same time. What kind of game gets harder after you die? That’s why approaching Dark Souls with caution isn’t a bad idea. After learning more about the game from Hidetaka Miyazaki, the director of Demon’s Souls, my cautious intentions have turned into all out paranoia.
Project Dark is really Dark Souls
The last time we heard about From Software and Namco Bandai’s “Project Dark,” it was September and the 2010 Tokyo Game Show was in full swing. There was a logo, hints that it would be another action RPG, like Demon’s Souls, and a promise of a 2011 full reveal. Well, it’s 2011 right now and look! Famitsu has a reveal for Dark Souls, the game formerly known as “Project Dark”…
Amazon selling Demon’s Souls Greatest Hits edition with extras
Amazon’s got a neat Demon’s Souls offer that would make a great gift this holiday season. Back when Demon’s Souls first came out in October, 2009, it was part of the Atlus spoils promotion. You know, where Atlus gives out some awesome stuff when you preorder a game. Well, Amazon’s got the Greatest Hits version of the game with the preorder incentives for only $29.99…
TGS 2010: From Software bringing Project Dark to PS3, Xbox 360
From Software is working on a new PS3 and Xbox 360 game that will please Demon’s Souls fans. The game is called Project Dark and it was announced September 16, 2010 at the 2010 Tokyo Game Show. It will be a dark fantasy RPG, just like Demon’s Souls and will be released in Japan and overseas.
Project Dark‘s full reveal will come sometime in 2011…
Demon’s Souls is a PS3 greatest hit
Demon’s Souls has just gotten cheaper. It turns out it is the latest edition to the PlayStation Greatest Hits lineup. So you can now head to any local retailer and pick it up for $29.99. Granted, it wasn’t that difficult to find it for $29.99 before it was made a Greatest Hit, as it was often on sale, but now that’s the standard price…
