New games added to the Roku 2 lineup
The Roku 2 is by no means a front-runner to becoming a console companion, but its gaming possibilities are expanding. It all started with the Roku 2 XS which brought motion-controlled, Angry Birds to living rooms. Last week, Roku announced a few more games that are now available for the Roku 2.
Xbox Live Update for the week of June 26 through July 2, 2011
Call of Duty: Black Ops unleashes the Annihilation map pack on its adoring public this week. It contains four new multiplayer maps and new zombie level Shangri-La.
Veteran players know the drill by now: New maps mean double XP weekend. From 10 a.m. PST July 1 through 5, 2011, the XP will rain down at double the regular rate. The map pack is only available for 360 for now but the doubled XP is available on PS3, PC and Wii. Celebrate Independence Day by reliving a few key moments from the Cold War. Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall! Annihilation is 1,200 Microsoft Points ($15).
Hallmark’s Christmas 2009 Galaga arcade cabinet ornament
As a followup to the 2008 Pac-Man mini arcade cabinet ornament, Hallmark is sticking with the same theme.
This year’s ornament is a miniaturized reproduction of the Galaga arcade cabinet (QXI1365) complete with mini buttons, mini joystick, lights and sounds. Press the buttons and you are treated to several seconds of classic tuneage including the intro and what sounds like the first wave of diving aliens. The top panel of the cabinet also lights up so the Galaga logo glows a bit. Aside from the effects, the cabinet also features a mini “screen shot” of the game.
Sony Home Update: New spaces, new stores, more items galore
The PlayStation Home has been updated with three new spaces to new stores at the mall and more stuff than you can shake a stick at. And like a 3-year-old in the candy isle at WalMart, I’m hopped up on digital eye candy and screaming my head off for a bag of flavored treats!
Wii Virtual Console update for the week of August 6-12, 2007
Nintendo’s Virtual console rocks another solid lineup this week, featuring the excellent N64 racer Wave Race 64, NES puzzler Adventures of Lolo, and another TurboGrafx 16 shooter, Galaga 90’. It looks like the VC has become a venerable haven for old school shooters and semi-obscure puzzle titles but I’m certainly not complaining.
All games were made available August 6, 2007 at 9 a.m. PST on the Wii Shop Channel. This week’s releases bring the North American VC total to 127 games.
