Writer-director of Uncharted movie has quit the project

The Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune movie has taken a step back into development hell as David O. Russell, its writer-director, has bowed out.

Variety reports that Russell and Sony Pictures had an amicable split based on “creative differences.” Fans of the Uncharted games had more than a few creative differences with the adaptation, which would have had game hero Nathan Drake being part of a family of thieves.

Gamertell Review: Max Payne the movie

Title: Max PayneRelease Date: October 17, 2008Company: 20th Century FoxRating: PG-13Length 100 minutesPros: The storyline is close to the storyline of the game, being adapted in a couple of places so to not push away people who weren’t interested in the game. It appeals to the people who haven’t played the game and makes them interested in at least giving the game a shot. The special effects are incredible.Cons: Realism is all over the place. Some of the camera work is distracting. When it’s supposed to be subdued to goes too big and when it’s supposed to be big it becomes subdued. The present-tense scene-setting is one massive continuity error.Overall Score: One thumb up and one sideways, 80/100, B-, *** out of five.

For those who actually went to see Max Payne in the theaters, it was met with mixed reactions. Some people thought it was great and some people thought it was a good movie, just not a good Max Payne movie. There were also people who thought that it was simply horrible. Then there were the people like me who thought it was adequate. What it did right was dead on and what it did wrong were just things that could use a lot of improvement…
