Gamers Outreach Foundation founder Zach Wigal and the gang at Gamers Outreach Foundation is hosting its third annual Gamers For Giving 2010 Video Game Competition May 1, 2010, to benefit charities and the foundation’s initiatives at the Briarwood Mall in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Through Gamers for Giving, Gamers Outreach Foundation aims to generate additional funding to fuel the GO-Kart (Gamers Outreach Kart) initiative with up to $15,000 to complete additional GO-Karts for Mott Children’s Hospital and hopes to raise $30,000.00 overall to support its work throughout the course of the year.

I had a chance to talk to Wigal about the upcoming event and to explain the GO-Kart and Fun For Our Troops initiatives.

Just got a message from my friend Zach Wigal of Gamers Outreach Foundation about an upcoming video game convention, Gamers 4 Giving, a charity event to be held at the Eastern Michigan University Student Center located on 900 Oakwood Street in Ypsilanti, Michigan (USA), starting 2 p.m. on February 27, 2009, and ending March 1, 2009. This year’s Gamers 4 Giving event will focus on raising funds to catapult the GOF 2009 community initiatives.

Events include a “300 MAN LAN” party PC tournament, Super Smash Brothers Brawl and 2vs2 Halo 3 Tournament.

Halloween just passed us by without a hitch, handed out treats to the goblins and fairies and the occasional witch. But soon Thanksgiving day will be here. So while my other stories are forming and interviews are completed I wondered what I could possibly be thank for this year aside from the usual family, friends and fine wines and elegant turkey dinners.

When I last spoke with Zach Wigal, founder of Gamers Outreach Foundation, he was just finishing up a Halo 3 tournament in January to raise funds for his community.

I caught up with Wigala few weeks ago and learned he has just earned the Microsoft MVP (Most Valuable Professional) award.

I ran into Zach Wigal (pictured right) online well after our interview for the “Teen with a Dream” story and was glad to hear his dream came true. He and his friends were finally able to host a Halo tournament through a CyGamZ fundraiser held in November 2007.

He told me GOF was able to raise $500, which was used towards community service projects within his area and that this year he and his friends are hosting another Halo tournament event called Gamers for Giving February 29, 2008.

“I believe last we spoke about GOF happenings I told you we had a small fund raiser for our organization at a LAN center called CyGamZ planned, and that we were still discussing possible dates and things for our big comeback event, Gamers for Giving,” Wigal said when I caught up with him earlier this week. “Well the CyGamZ event has ended, and we’re 100% focused on Gamers for Giving, which is a Halo 3 tournament combined with a 3 day straight PC LAN.”
