Gamertell Review: The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for DS
Like many of its predecessors, this is a strange story starring a little guy in a green, elfish suit wielding a sword (called Link, of course) and a princess (Zelda) that needs to be rescued, though not quite in the princess-in-another-castle way. This time there is a mysterious train and disappearing tracks that need to be re-mapped by beating level bosses and involving Zelda as a ghostly, albeit chatty, presence.
Gamertell Review: DJ Hero with turntable controller for PS3
Dance Dance Revolution may have solidified the interactive music game genre for pop culture and Guitar Hero might have taken air guitar to a new level but DJ Hero truly makes playing with music a realistically immersive and enjoyable gaming experience.
Much like those other music games, queued notes fly at you from a rainbow and you must press buttons at just the right time to hit the right note. The difference here is that there are other moves thrown in including a scratch (flicking the turntable quickly), rewind (quickly rotating the turntable for a revolution) and sliding (moving a slide bar to the left or right). There are also subtle variations on the scratching (direction, length and duration).
Exchange cruddy games for these three worthwhile Wii titles
We all have aunts and uncles who just don’t quite get it. They never stick to your wish list, and they never check Gamertell for sound advice. And so, you end up with “Scene It: Twilight” because “…that’s popular with you kids now, right?” Well, let’s turn lemon into lemonades, as your aunt and uncle would say, and put those exchanges (or gift cards) to good use on great Wii games you may have missed this year.

Gamertell Review: Katamari Forever for PS3
The weirdness that is the sticky ball Katamari game franchise is not easy to convey.
It’s wacky, mostly incomprehensible yet inexplicably enjoyable. It’s a game without being game like and fun without reason.
The most recent release, Katamari Forever, takes all that absurdity, bounds it in its own wad of graphical awesomeness and spits it back at you with high-def precision. Sure, it doesn’t make much sense but it sure is a lot of fun.
Gamertell Review: Nyko’s Intercooler TS fan accessory for PS3
After reading a few forum suggestions on other sites that implied the PS3 ran too hot to remain stable, I contacted Nyko for an Intercooler fan system to see if maybe, just maybe, the system was over heating and a fan would help.
Turns out that it was and it did.
Find out about this easy-to-install fan accessory that brought my PS3 back to life…
How To: Give the gift of WiiWare and Virtual Console games
It’s the holiday season, which means its prime time for shopping for gifts. Online shopping always makes things easier, and choosing an option where the place you’re buying from automatically sends the recipient your gift is even better. Its even easier if you decide to buy your favorite Wii owner a Virtual Console or WiiWare game from the Wii Shop Channel.
Nintendo created the Wii Shop channel so there are two options when browsing a game’s listing. You can either buy the game you’re looking at for yourself, or for your friend. The past few weeks have seen an extraordinary number of WiiWare and Virtual Console games added to the Wii Shop Channel, so there’s a great chance you can do some of your Hanukkah and Christmas shopping online.
If you both have Wiis, then the gift giving procedure is much easier. Now, since you two are already friends, you’ll likely have registered your Wiis with your friend codes. If you haven’t click the bottom right envelope icon on the Wii home screen, bring up the address book and enter your friend’s code
Target’s retro toys holiday gift cards
OK, so this year’s high-tech holiday gift cards are arguably lower tech than previous years but they are still kinda cool.
This year’s cards are more retro style toys than high tech gadgets. Each requires that you $25 on it before you can take it home or you can order it online for an additional $1.95 for shipping and handling. And, no, they don’t simply have blinking lights or silly sounds, a standard feature in some of the thicker-than-credit-card style gift cards.
Amazon’s New Super Mario Bros Wii bundle is awesome
If you have some readily available, disposable income, a Wii and a distinct lack of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, then you’ve got to check out Amazon. Amazon has an exclusive, special edition New Super Mario Bros. Wii gift set available that comes with the game, a lunchbox, four Wii remote decals and a t-shirt.
The best part is the price. Normally, this Amazon exclusive bundle will cost you $69.99. However, there’s a $10 discount being applied at the moment so you can get everything for $59.99. The game alone costs $49.99, so it’s like you’re getting the t-shirt, lunchbox and remote decals for only $10. It’s a seriously good deal.
This bundle is a limited edition item, so if you’re interested, hurry and pick it up now…
