Review: Magicka for Windows

At first glance, Magicka really doesn’t seem like much. Then again, there is quite a bit that goes into the game that makes it worth playing and a bit that occasionally makes it a chore to play.The story isn’t groundbreaking by any means. It’s your basic story of an evil sorcerer that builds a force to throw the world into chaos. You have to fight your way through the hordes to defeat the sorcerer who is out to take over and/or destroy the world. So take your typical fantasy tale and throw in more Norse mythology. That’s what you have with Magicka in terms of the story.

However, the story isn’t the thing that sets the game apart.

Rumor: Free Windows PC games getting Microsoft Live support

Joystiq is reporting a rumor that free Windows games such as Solitaire, Freecell and Minesweeper are soon to receive Microsoft Live functionality. That would mean that after registering for a Games for Windows account (it’s free to do so) players of those games could access to leaderboards, chat and of course, Xbox Live Achievements.

Games for Windows reveals GTA IV PC requirements

Grand Theft Auto IV has been on consoles for quite some time now but the release of the PC version is not too far behind, hitting shelves on on November 18, 2008. In true Rockstar fashion, additional information about new features the game will bring has been few and far between. Chris Early named GM of Games for Windows – Live

Only a week from E3 and already there seems to be some manager swapping. Microsoft announced today (July 3, 2007) that Chris Early will become General Manager of the Games for Windows – Live brand.

Early, who will assume the position on July 9, 2007, previously worked in the MSN Games and Xbox Live departments and is moving from his current position as the manager of Microsoft Casual Games.
