GameTap gets sweet E3 deal

Gametap, the most recent and arguably most successful endeavor of the Turner Broadcasting Inc. conglomerate, will be providing live video streams of the Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony press conferences at this year’s annual E3 expo. The coverage will be part of the full frontal assault that Gametap seems to be unleashing for E3 this year. Just a few days ago we heard news of the recent Mac compatibility that Gametap unveiled in addition to the announcement of a new San Francisco office for the company. Video games seem to be treating Ted Turner well.

Gametap invites Mac users into the fold

Intel based Mac users can now partake in the online tastiness that is Gametap.com. Gametap was the brilliant ploy of Turner Broadcasting System Inc. and, if you watched Saturday morning cartoons in 2005 (not me… okay me. Guilty pleasure.), you’ll remember their launch advertisements. Apparently they reached their target audience in spades because they’re now opening an office in San Francisco and planning to roll out more posh content for Apple users later this year (2007).

GameTap for Mac coming late June 2007

MacWorld recently posted an article detailing online gaming service GameTap’s announcement that it’ll be opening its doors to Mac users beginning June 28, 2007. Though initially only classic arcade and console games will be available through a “lite” subscription, later in the summer a deluxe version of the service will launch, allowing Mac users access to Saturn and Dreamcast titles.

The deluxe subscription (price was not indicated) will also feature the ability to compete in supported challenge games against fellow Mac users and pc gamers. According to the article, the projected total number of available titles …
