Gears of War 2 celebrates Halloween with 31 times experience
Gears of War 2 is already a game with serious Halloween themes. You fight a Horde of ugly looking aliens and your primary weapon has a chainsaw attached to it. Epic Games is taking the theme even further this weekend by giving 31 times the normal amount of XP in multiplayer. There is also a special “chainsaw massacre” Lancer-only edition of Horde Mode.
Project Triforce Gears of War 2 collectibles on sale at Wizard World Chicago Comic Con 2010
Wizard World Chicago Comic Con 2010 attendees can pick up Project Triforce Gears of War 2 paraphernalia, for a price. Project Triforce has a booth that’s easily visible right when you walk in, a few feet away from the SFX-360 gaming area, and is selling a limited number of Gears of War 2 C.O.G. Lancer replicas and Locust Drone busts at a pretty substantial discount. Okay, the price is still ridiculous for the average fan, but for super-fans it’s not as ludicrous.
See, normally that C.O.G. Lancer Assault Rifle replica will cost $949.99…
Gears of War 2 celebrating Memorial Day, new matchmaking with triple experience points
Marcus Fenix and the boys from Delta Squad love Memorial Day. Fireworks, hot dogs, baseball (but especially the fireworks).
Gears of War 2 received a big title update May 26, 2010, adding its new social matchmaking system to the shooter. Players can join Social Xbox Live matches in progress or leave matches without being penalized experience points you already have. You will not get any XP for the match you quit, however.
Rumor: Gears of War getting an E-Day Prequel
Gears of War 2 proved that sometimes, the second time around can indeed be better than the first.
With millions of copies already sold and a sure bet for Game of the Year Nominations all-around, this weekend at Comic Con New York (February 7, 2009), Gears of War 2 writer Joshua Ortega stated to a room full of fans that they could expect more in the next ten years from the series, including a possible prequel that deals with the Emergence Day (E-Day) event that was the starting point of the war between the Human race and the Locust.
Specifically, Ortega said…

Ever have one of those nights where you just can’t seem to sleep? There’s nothing on the tube and you just have the itch to play a game, but none of the ones on your shelf. Now, there might finally be a place to accommodate your late night gaming and muchie binges. Since GameStop feels the need to close so early, 7-Eleven has taken upon itself to be your late night gaming fix.
With the earliest foray into the gaming market being the release of mega-popular alien shooting, Mountain Dew branding, Halo 3, for the company, their latest exploits in, um, selling Gears of War 2 and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King before their respective street dates, the company has been getting a lot of attention in the gaming media.
Now it seems, according to an article by GameSpot, 7-Eleven will be getting into the video game retail market full-time, starting with some of this holiday’s big releases including…
Nominees for Spike TV’s Video Game Awards announced
Another year and another Video Game Awards show. Better known as SpikeTV’s VGAs, this will be the sixth year for the show.
Love it or loath it the show will go on in full spectacle that will include a performance by rapper turned-video game character, 50 Cent, and a “Gamer God” award for Will Wright.
The list this year looks fairly promising without too much of one game in your face like last year’s seven nominations for a certain alien-shooting game and a game about an undersea dystopia.
