Intel is giving away a custom Shank laptop, processors and more
How could we forget Shank? That game taught us that chainsaws and shotguns go very well together. Shank stabbed his way into our hearts on the PS3 and Xbox 360, and it was released on Steam recently. We couldn’t verify if Shank would be getting any downloadable content, but the game does have some customized tech swag.
Oprah gives away Xbox 360s and Kinect to her audience
One of the best things about being included in an Oprah audience is the possibility of getting free stuff. With this being Oprah’s final season and all, you would think the chances of bringing home some fairly pricey swag would be greater than ever. For the studio audience present on today’s show, everyone got a free Xbox 360 and Kinect.

Select GameStops holding one day Dragon Quest IX event July 31, 2010
GameStop is supporting Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies and its fans with a special one-day map event! On July 31, 2010, GameStops will be giving away a Special Event map that you can download to your Dragon Quest IX cartridge if you stop by the store with your game in your DS in the Canvass for Guests mode. This map will allow you access to a new region and area in your game which will hopefully be great for leveling and perhaps contain special equipment or items.
The thing is, there aren’t that many GameStops participating in this particular event though. It isn’t like those Pokemon distribution things where all GameStops in the area get the cartridge and have the distribution going all the time during the event period. The Dragon Quest IX Special Event Map is only being distributed from 1-4pm on July 31, so if you want to get it you need to check…
Try the 3D Dot Game Heroes online character creator to win a (foam) sword
As part of a promotion for the upcoming PlayStation 3 game 3D Dot Game Heroes, publisher SouthPeak has released an online character creator. In the game, you will be able to design your own heroes using the character editor. The online 3D Dot Game Heroes Designer is a sampling of this, allowing you to create your sprite of choice, block by block.
The beauty of the in-game and online character editors is that it allows you to create anything you want. After all, who said that the hero had to be a humanoid? You can make a dragon or a mouse. Heck, it doesn’t even have to be a living creature. Imagine if the legendary hero was a table or book. I’m sure that most people will instead end up recreating more well-known 8-bit sprites including Mario, Mega Man and, of course, Link.
