glitches
Two days in Skyrim: In search of the jank
Open-world Bethesda games tend to be great, but they usually suffer in the bug department. Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas (New Vegas especially) had very common bugs and glitches that affected virtually everyone. Sometimes, the patches that were meant to fix these bugs only made things worse. It’s understandable for someone to approach Skyrim expecting to become frustrated by game-breaking bugs from the start. Fortunately, my experience with Skyrim has been mostly bug-free.
Dead Island on Steam is not the final version
Dead Island has some problems. As many reviewers have pointed out, Dead Island contains a lot of bugs on the console versions that don’t really break the game, but hinder the experience enough to be noticeable. The Steam version of Dead Island is even worse. In many ways, the game is just not finished. Whenever a simple keyboard button press triggers odds things such as a third-person view and a camera that roams all over the island, you’ve got an unfinished product.
DC Universe Online’s Battle of Legends was a glitchy mess
A couple days ago, DC Universe Online held its big end of beta event called Battle of Legends. This epic battle took place at the Botanical Gardens in Gotham where Batman and The Joker faced off, and in Centennial Park with an epic battle between Superman and Lex Luthor. With all the CES coverage as of late, I haven’t had the time to talk about how the event went. But today I’m here to tell you it was awful from my point of view. It makes me wonder if releasing DC Universe Online next week is even a good idea.
Bethesda Softworks accused of applying pressure to site with negative New Vegas review
Fallout: New Vegas has come under fire for an unusual amount of bugs in a major release. Multiple reviewers are citing freezing, glitching and other problems in this long awaited RPG installment.
The PR nightmare continues with some downright disturbing allegations. Journalist Dan Hsu said on his Twitter feed that New Vegas publisher Bethesda has pressured at least one site to pull its review.
Fallout: New Vegas has some creepy bugs
Fallout: New Vegas is imperfect. Most games are, but New Vegas has some very obvious and numerous technical glitches. If you play New Vegas for a couple hours, I guarantee you will run into something that just isn’t right. For one gamer, those glitches occurred at the very beginning of the adventure.
Red Dead Redemption cleans up multiplayer, offers amnesty to save glitchers
The greatest compliment to Red Dead Redemption’s single player mode is that it makes RDR a game of the year contender despite its horrendous multiplayer. As well documented and still being discussed on our comment boards, the game’s multiplayer was a tremendous mess at launch. It took a minor miracle to get connected at all, and the game was extremely buggy and unstable even then.
PS3 firmware 3.41 causes problems, Sony blames hard drives
ony released the latest firmware for the PS3 earlier this week. Version 3.41 was a minor update, laying the framework for a new “Things you may like” feature in the PlayStation Store. Users are also reporting the firmware contains a patch that will make future firmware updates download faster. However some are experiencing problems when trying to update their consoles. Some are getting errors while others sit back and watch their PS3 crash.
StarCraft II issues and fixes
So you just purchased StarCraft II. You boot up the game expecting a remarkable gaming experience twelve years in the making, only to be stalled by your hardware acting up. Fear not because some problems you may have can be solved by changing some system settings.
Red Dead Redemption multiplayer patch coming next week
We’ve been singing the same song for close to a month now. Players all over are trying to play Red Dead Redemption’s multiplayer modes, but keep getting error messages. Rockstar addressed these issues in a patch last month, but the problems persist. One of our readers contacted Rockstar support and was told another patch is on the way.
Red Dead Redemption multiplayer still broken after fix
My Xbox 360 is plugged directly into a router so the connection is always constant. I played RDR at 2am following the fix and everything worked fine for about 10 minutes. At that point I was removed from the match due to “connection problems with other players.”
