Gamertell Review: My World My Way for DS

Title: My World My WayPrice: $29.99System(s): Nintendo DSRelease Date: February 3, 2009Publisher (Developer): Atlus (Global A)ESRB Rating: “Everyone” for alcohol reference, mild fantasy violence and mild suggestive themesPros: Clever writing, unique storyline and characters, interesting how Elise can change her world.Cons: Repetitive character designs, lots of level grinding, many fetch questsOverall Score: One thumb up, one sideways; 85/100; B; * * * 1/2 out of 5

We prefer to gloss over the fact that RPGs basically are all the same, but it’s pretty much true. Evil menace appears, underage novices get caught in some massive struggle, novices turn into legendary warriors and 40-60 hours later the day is saved.

My World, My Way isn’t like that, and that’s part of it’s charm. It isn’t some drastic and far-reaching epic. The dialogue isn’t peppered with archaic accents. It isn’t about saving the world.

It’s all about helping Princess Elise become a warrior and possibly snagging the gorgeous adventurer who spurned her as her boyfriend…
