Gamertell Review: Golden Sun: Dark Dawn for DS
It isn’t every day that a beloved Nintendo series is resurrected, and that alone is reason enough to take notice of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. But this follow up the to 2001 and 2003 GBA RPGs Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age also happens to be a fantastic RPG with a wonderful story, precise controls and lots of opportunity to use magic in the field to reach new areas. It’s yet another must-have DS game. There’s lots to see and do, and players will easily spend at least 30 hours with this game…
Golden Sun: Dark Dawn rises November 29, 2010
November is going to be an awesome month for DS owners, because that’s when Golden Sun returns! Nintendo’s just announced a definite release date for Golden Sun: Dark Dawn – November 29, 2010. Whew! I was starting to get worried there, since for a while they just kept saying it’d be out for the 2010 holiday season…
E3 2010: Hands-on with Golden Sun: Dark Dawn
One of the highlights of my E3 2010 trip was to finally get hands-on, quality time with Golden Sun: Dark Dawn – the first DS entry in the Golden Sun series. It won’t be out until this holiday season, but I got a chance to take a look at the battle system and how towns will look.
I decided to test out the Battle Mode first, to see what battles are like in the newest entry. I was able to go through three fights in a row, with each battle slightly more challenging, with my three characters – Matthew, Karis and Tyrell. Matthew is the well rounded hero, Karis is a mage and Tyrell is your basic heavy hitter/tank. The first two battles were incredibly easy, all I needed to do was continually attack. The final battle was against an ogre-esque boss critter, which took multiple hits to take down…
Opinion: How Nintendo won E3 2009
At E3 2009, Microsoft showed us the future of gaming with Project Natal. Nintendo addressed the hardcore Nintendo fan’s concerns and Sony came out swinging with stuff all across the board.
If you are looking for a clear cut “winner,” however, I think you have to look at Nintendo. While Microsoft wins as my favorite presentation, Nintendo accomplished everything it set out to do and that’s comfort both gaming fans and Nintendo fans alike, by reassuring us that Nintendo hasn’t given itself completely up to the idea of catering only to a “casual” market.
E3 2009: The Golden Sun series returns with Golden Sun DS
If you heard unexplicable squealing, that was probably just me as Nintendo announced Golden Sun DS at its E3 2009 press conference. See, Nintendo announced that the Golden Sun RPG series, which first appeared on the GBA with Golden Sun and its direct sequel Golden Sun: The Lost Age is going to return. Golden Sun DS will grace gamers with its presence in 2010.
Unfortunately, at the moment, all we know is that Camelot and Nintendo’s RPG adventure exists. We don’t know if it will pick up where Golden Sun: The Lost Age left off, or if it will be a totally new adventure set in the game world. The brown hair hero in the screenshots doesn’t resemble any of the old Golden Sun characters. However, the three characters in the official art pictured at the right look a lot like Isaac, Mia and Garet. If so, where’s Ivan…
10 GBA series that make the DS’s GBA slot worthwhile
Those of us with an original DS or DS lite have probably been focusing solely on DS games lately. It’s understandable. It seems like there’s are at least five new, great games released for the DS each month.
But the GBA slot deserves some appreciation as well. After all, the Game Boy Advance also had a fantastic run with many memorable titles released. It doesn’t seem right to leave the slot empty all the time.
So to honor the GBA, and perhaps make the DSi owners a bit envious, Gamertell is looking back at some game series with multiple Game Boy Advance entries that are a perfect fit for on the go play, and maybe even give DS games a run for their money…
