Review: Green Lantern movie in 3D
After the disappointment of the Green Hornet movie, I lowered my expectations of the Green Lantern movie. As a long-time Green Lantern comic book fan, I simply wanted to be able to celebrate the fact that the ring slinger finally made it to the big screen. I kept my expectations very, very low so I could not possibly be disappointed.
Silly me.
Free comic Book Day 2011 this weekend
It’s your friendly annual reminder to go out and visit your friendly neighborhood comic shop and pick up some free comics.
Free Comic Book Day is an annual event that takes place the first Saturday in May (May 7, 2011) to help generate – or regenerate – interest in comic books.
A lot of the big comic companies release titles for the day and, depending on your shop, you can often find a few decent indies as well. Some even dump out those quarter boxes simply to get them out of the store. (But please, please, please do not think that every comic in the store is free).
Nathan Fillion is the voice of the Green Lantern
Although Nathan Fillion (and fanboys) didn’t get his wish to play Nathan Drake in the upcoming live-action film of Uncharted (that role is going to Mark Wahlberg), he’ll still get to fulfill one of his geeky desires, as the voice of the Green Lantern.
PlayStation Store Comics Update: Green Lantern Emerald Warriors (September 29 to October 5, 2010)
This week’s comic is a free issue of Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors #1. In this new chapter of the Green Lantern saga, Guy Gardner goes on a secret mission for Atrocitus causing conflict with Green Lantern Hal Jordan and letting his temper create trouble for the Green Lantern Corps.
Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters headed to DS, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360
Brace yourself for a huge surprise. Ready? There’s going to be a Green Lantern game released to coincide with the movie. Yeah, I know – I lied. Everyone knew there’d be a Green Lantern game to go with the movie! So when the Green Lantern movie comes out in Summer 2011, you can pick up Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters for your DS, PS3, Wii or Xbox 360 to go with it…
Alternate Disc-Tractions: Green Lantern: First Flight Blu-ray (with digital download) review
With the rumors about an upcoming Green Lantern movie that may or may not be delayed yet again, fans of the colorful Corps have to be happy with any on-screen adventure they can get. And this, my fellow poozers, is a pretty decent get.
This animated feature stars Hal Jordan (voiced by Christopher Meloni) and retells an updated version of his super hero origin story as well as Sinestro’s (Victor Garber) final steps to becoming an anti-GL. You’ll see Hal get his ring, a lot of other Green Lanterns from other space sectors, the Guardians of the Universe and Sinestro tossing out streaks of yellow might (along with the Sinestro Corps logo)…
Comic Con 09: A peek at DC Universe
DC Comics fans are surely anxious for the release of Sony Online’s newest MMO, DC Universe, to come out on the PC and PS3. I was able to get a look at this awesome title at Comic Con 2009. The game is nowhere near ready to come out yet but here are some specs of the game that were confirmed to give you an idea what to expect.
DC Universe is a Online MMO where you can create your own superhero and fight along side your favorite heroes from DC comics. You can’t play are real super heroes like Batman or the Flash, mainly because this is a massive online game. If you could, then you would see 800 Green Lantern’s running around.
Don’t forget about Free Comic Book Day 2009
Free stuff. I love it. And what could be better than free stuff? More free stuff, of course.
Free Comic Book Day is an annual event that takes place the first Saturday in May (May 2, 2009) to help generate interest in comic books. Both the biggies and the indies offer some pretty cool print pubs that you can grab for free at your local comic shop.
There are two notable game-related titles on the agenda (Sonic and Warhammer) as well as a William Shatner book, a Magic: The Gathering sampler, a new Green Lantern comic intro (Blackest Night #0) and a Minimate figure…
Game defender Prof. Henry Jenkins leaves MIT, heads into the “heart of the entertainment industry”
With all of the detractors that have made news in the gaming industry, there has always been one individual who has stood in our defense.
That individual is Henry Jenkins, a professor at MIT who not only has his own blog but has frequently spoken in defense of video games in article after article.
Now, the renowned media scholar is taking his knowledge over to the University of Southern California, where he expects to expand on his research methods, which not only cover video games but also includes…
John Tobias on Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe comic book
Last week, Midway released details about the Kollector’s Edition of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (MK vs. DC) which will be launching alongside the regular version of the game on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 next month (November 16, 2008 in North America; November 21, 2008 in Europe).
