Second Skyrim patch is needed to fix Xbox 360 texture issue
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Xbox 360 is running into some problems. These aren’t the usual game crashing, mission-breaking bugs we’re used to seeing in open-world Bethesda games. This time, it’s about texture scaling. Textures are what gives games more detail. Bethesda is aware of the issue and are currently working on a patch that will be released hopefully sooner rather than later.
Rage could take up 22gb of your Xbox 360′s hard drive
A lot of things make people angry. Know what makes me angry? Video games that require me to install a lot of data on my 80gb PS3′s hard drive. (Granted, I’m down to about 20gb free now.) Of course, all my complaining about something taking up a measly 5gb will sound petty now, since Xbox 360 owners who decide to invest in Rage could end up sacrificing 22gb of their hard drives to that single game.
Yes, if you want Rage to look its best and you own an Xbox 360, you not only have to deal with three game discs. You’ll also have to sacrifice a big chunk of your hard drive…
Sony releases a fix to address firmware 3.41 hard drive issues
The latest firmware update for the PS3 has been causing problems for some people trying to update their hard drives. Reports say those who have been affected are getting error messages after trying to replace a hard drive if firmware 3.41 was already installed. Sony initially recommended users to reinstall their original hard drives to restore performance.
Microsoft will sell standalone 250GB hard drives
Several days ago, Microsoft revealed the true price of Kinect and a Xbox 360 S bundle that would be accompanying it. This particular model will have 4GB of internal flash memory and an expansion slot that can house a hard drive. Though Microsoft have not announced whether it will sell hard drives for the Xbox 360 S separately, a box photo of the 4G Xbox 360 S seems to have beat Microsoft to the punch.

Split/Second PS3 install is a whopping 7GB
Split/Second on the PS3 requires a mandatory install of 7GB in order to play. That probably has to be the largest install on any PS3 game to date. Installs on the PS3 have been a growing problem since its release. If you own one of the original 60gb models and are an avid gamer, chances are you’ve already been forced to upgrade the hard drive.
Spring 2010 Xbox 360 update adds USB flash drive support
Xbox 360 fans will be pleased to know that more save options, other than Microsoft’s Memory Units and hard drives, will soon be available. Joystiq has discovered that Microsoft is working on an Xbox 360 system update that will allow users to save data to USB flash drive storage devices. The update is expected to arrive sometime in Spring 2010, which means pretty soon.
The USB drive must be between 1gb and 16gb to work with the Xbox 360, and the Xbox 360 will have to format the device and perform a compatibility check to make sure it will work with the system and saved data. You will also be able to set up the USB drive to only use part of it for Xbox 360 related data, if you’d like.
As for what kind of data will be able to be saved to the USB storage units, well, it sounds like any kind…
Get your loved one a GBA usb drive or NES/SNES hard drive for Valentine’s Day
Valentines Day is coming up soon, and if your loved one enjoys video games, it could be difficult to find the right gift. After all, there’s been sort of a release lull, and the next influx of new games doesn’t start until March. Plus, if there were any good, new games released, he or she probably bought them with gift cards received over the holidays. Perhaps you should check out 8BitMemory’s Etsy Shop to pick up a custom external hard drive or usb flash drive as a gift this year. They’re special, because they’re housed in SNES, NES or GBA cartridges.
The GBA usb flash drives are the newest items in the 8BitMemory shop. At the moment, there are three varieties. You can get a 4gb drive in a Mario vs. Donkey Kong or Metroid Fusion casing for $39.99, or an 8gb drive in a Super Mario Advance casing for $49.99. Expensive, yes, but they are unique items you probably won’t see anywhere else. You can also place a custom order and choose your own size and cartridge.
If you have a little more cash to spend, and the person you love needs more storage space, perhaps consider an NES or SNES external, portable flash drive…
