Important Importables: 2010 PSP import gift guide

Just like the DS, the PSP is region-free and can play games from any country. Well, PSPs with UMD drives anyway. (It’s a pain to keep switching accounts on a PSPgo). This means that import video games can make wonderful and unique gifts for gamers.

In fact, an imported PSP game may be one of the only options in some cases. While there were very few PSP game released in North America and Europe in 2010, there were lots released in Japan. Which means there’s a greater variety to choose from as gifts. So here are ten that might be perfect gift options…

Japan Import: See what happens when Project Diva 2nd and Idolm@ster collide

Sega’s Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd is a DLC natural, which isn’t surprising since it’s a music game with Vocaloid characters you can dress up. Some of the most anticipated bundles involved the announced collaboration with Namco Bandai and its Idolm@ster series. Now, Sega’s revealed what you’ll get in all three of the DLC when they’re released on October 28, 2010…

Japan Import: Prepare for the Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd bundle and accessories

Sega did quite well last year when it decided to team up with Crypton and release Hatsune Miku: Project Diva, a PSP game based on the Vocaloid mascot Miku Hatsune. Hatsune Miku: Project Diva was released July 2, 2009, and went on to become one of the most popular PSP games of the year. Sega’s hoping to repeat that with Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd on July 29, 2010, and this time is going all out with a bundle and PSP accessories.

The bundle is being dubbed the Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd Ippai Pack and comes with a turquoise PSP-3000 (the same color as Miku’s hair), Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd, a turquoise Project Diva carrying pouch, a turquoise Project Diva 2nd cloth for wiping the PSP screen and, you guessed it, a turquoise strap to attach to the PSP….

Time for more Miku with Hatsune Miku Project DIVA 2nd

Time for more Miku! Sega’s just announced that it is preparing Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA 2nd, the sequel to the PSP music game Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA for a July 29, 2010 release! And, like all sequels, it will have more of what made the first game great.

For example, more Vocaloids. Rin and Len Kagamine both appeared in a few songs of their own in the original Project DIVA, and they’ll be back for Project DIVA 2nd. There’ll also be Vocaloid duets. As you can see from the image at the right there, Luka Megurine joins Miku for a duet. The image is probably from “Magnet,” since that track is confirmed to be in the new game and is a Miku and Luka duet. Another confirmed duet is “Romeo and Cinderella.” Since that track is a duet between Miku and Kaito, I guess that means he’s in the game again too.

The Project DIVA 2nd basic gameplay is going to be the same, that is, pressing the PSP’s X, O, square and triangle buttons when prompted. This time, there’ll also be extended button presses, and at times multiple button presses. Also, the Edit Mode, which lets you import your own mp3s to create your own playable custom tracks and music videos, will be enhanced and improved…
