NHL 12 will bring back Gretzky , several other legends

We’re seeing more sports games include legendary players to square off against today’s stars. EA’s NHL 12 will continue that trend, bringing in nine of hockey’s greatest to mix it up. Revealed so far are Wayne Gretzky, Chris Chelios and Ray Bourque.

EA’s NHL 12 blog let us in on the details about the legends. The game’s Be a Pro mode will have features allowing you to play as one of the legends. Can you score top Gretzky’s 894 career goals or get seven assists in a single game? After you achieve these milestones, you’ll unlock video footage of legends talking about their accomplishments. There will be single-game, season and career milestones to shoot for.

2K Sports will not release a hockey title in 2011

During its quarterly financial webcast May 24, 2011, 2K Sports’ parent company Take-Two Interactive announced it will not produce a hockey game in 2011.

NHL 2K11 didn’t appear on the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, releasing only on mobile platforms and the Nintendo Wii. It looks like a situation that’s the reverse of what’s happening with EA and 2K Sports’ basketball games. EA’s hockey efforts are drawing rave reviews, leaving 2K Sports having a difficult time turning a profit on NHL 2K.

Review: Mario Sports Mix for Nintendo Wii

http://admintell.napco.com/ee/images/uploads/gamertell/mariosportsmix-box.jpgThis game is too expensive. I suppose that’ll be my biggest complaint. If Mario Sports Mix were priced at $30 as it should be, I could easily recommend it. But $50 for this? Mario is arguably the biggest name in gaming, but it’s not worth $20 thrown onto a mediocre title. Perhaps I’m being a bit too harsh, because the game is polished. Any disappointment you feel with Mario Sports Mix will not come from the presentation, but from how quickly you grow tired of it.

Target’s Pre-Black Friday sale has big discounts on games

It’s getting to the point where pre-Black Friday sales are just as good as the actual Black Friday sales. We’ve got information on a sale Target is having from November 21-24, 2010. Some of these discounts are so good, you can probably skip Black Friday visits altogether. Don’t take my word for it. Keep reading to see if Target will have something on sale that you can cross off you gift list.

Gamertell Preview: WCG Ultimate Gamer Season 2, Episode 3

AJ received a double dose of heartbreak last week on World Cyber Games Ultimate Gamer. He got sent home and is out of the running for the $100,000 prize. Also, he’s no longer able to kick back in the cushy Ultimate Gamer pad and hang out with Faye. It was a hard fall from grace, considering he placed first in the “real life” challenge.

Kat and Ryan formed an unlikely alliance. It could be short-lived as…

Wii exclusive NHL Slapshot tries to revolutionize hockey games

EA Sports is trying something completely different with its Wii hockey offering, NHL Slapshot.

While the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 will get NHL 11 as usual, Slapshot is an experience completely designed for the Wii. It even comes packaged with a 21-inch hockey stick peripheral that attaches to the Wii’s motion controller.

NHL 2K11 a 2010 Wii exclusive

If you’re a hockey video game fan, I hope you’re a Wii owner. Take-Two Interactive has announced that 2K Sports’ next entry in the NHL 2K series, NHL 2K11, will only be available on the Wii in 2010. It’s a surprising announcement, considering the NHL 2K series has been available on both the PS3 and Xbox 360 since NHL 2K7, and the series has been a PlayStation and Xbox staple since NHL 2K3.

The news isn’t terribly bleak, as there’s still hope for future, multiplatform releases of NHL 2K games. Take-Two has stated that the PS3 and Xbox 360 absence of an NHL 2K entry in 2010 is temporary while the company works on improving the series for those specific platforms…

No, Really, Eh: Canadian company develops CrowdWave game system for the masses

While many video games including FIFA or Madden already address the average couch quarterback or striker, Canadian Bent 360 has designed a game aimed at people who are actually at a sports event.

CrowdWave is a system that allows people at a sports arena to participate in a video game by moving their body. The system is composed of a series of cameras and motion sensors that analyze the movements and position of bodies in a crowd. This way the crowd can point their bodies in the right direction and manipulate objects in a game.

Obama bobblehead giveaway at upcoming Cincinnati Cyclones game

Sports and politics, what a mix.

The first Saturday (January 24, 2009) after Barack Obama takes office as President of the United State of America (January 20, 2009), the Cincinnati Cyclones will celebrate with a free bobblehead to the first 3,000 ticket holders through the gate.

Because when I think of hockey, I think of Barack Obama.

The Obama bobblehead features a smiling president-to-be with his right hand giving a nice thumbs up sign. He’s also sporting a…
