Sony announced a major change is in store for PlayStation Home back in August. Home will be completely re-imagined as a destination centered on social games. Home will be broken down into districts that cater to certain kinds of games. For instance, there will be an Adventure District and an Action District. Among the games in the Action District is a first-person shooter called Bootleggers.

Sodium 2: Project Velocity is now live in PlayStation Home. Sodium 2 is the first game that takes advantage of PlayStation Home’s new-found ability to host fast-paced multiplayer games with better graphics and physics. We’ve taken this game for a little spin and recorded a video of everything Sodium 2 has to offer.

Following an 8.9 earthquake and a huge Tsunami that ripped through Japan, gamers who were lucky enough to still have power began finding their way on the Japanese PlayStation Network servers to reconnect with friends.

How long has it been since you last visited PlayStation Home? My last visit was during the first days of the Killzone Plaza Defender festivities. Before then, I can’t remember the lasted time I logged in. Sony must know there are a lot of people who pass on Home, and would like for those individuals to give the service another chance.

As promised, the Central Plaza in PlayStation Home has been utterly destroyed. The Helghast have invaded the social space and they won’t be leaving anytime soon. At this point, you can either stay away from the Central Plaza, or take up arms and kill some Higs. That’s what I just did, and I earned a new virtual wardrobe for my efforts.

Time to get into Tomb Raider again. Square Enix is going to be releasing a nice little trilogy for the PS3 called the Tomb Raider Trilogy. You’ve probably heard of it – it has HD versions of the PS2 games Tomb Raider: Legend and Tomb Raider: Anniversary. It also includes the PS3 game Tomb Raider: Underworld. Nintendo and Square Enix both have customer loyalty programs, which reward gamers who buy their products with free stuff. Soon, Sony will join their ranks. The PlayStation Rewards beta begins October 28, 2010, and all Gamer Advisory Panel and PlayStation Plus members will be able to start earning points towards goodies. The Sony PlayStation Rewards program is going to function a little differently when it comes to the rewards part.
