Playstation Store Update: Castlevania, pennies and commandos edition (December 18-24, 2008)

Downloadable games proved the stars of this week’s Playstation Store update, as the store served up some noteworthy titles that are sure to impress Playstation 3 owners.

Castlevania fans should be especially pleased with this update, as it gives them the opportunity to experience a new style of Castlevania gameplay, courtesy of Konami’s Castlevania Chronicles.

These Chronicles manage to distinguish themselves from the now-familiar Metroid-vania style of play by returning to a strictly linear method of progression. While the game has received mixed reviews, it is definitely recommended for players who are into old-school gaming. It is also extremely cheap, retailing at $5.99.

However, while Castlevania Chronicles is probably the most well-known game on this list, other games and items made their debut in the Playstation Store today, making this another worthwhile update…
