Rage HD gets a major update

rage hd ios

It turns out id Software has just given iOS owners another reason to look at Rage HD, the portable adaptation of Rage. The app has just experienced a rather massive update. It looks better, it plays better and now you have the honor of being able to pay for additional DLC if the base $1.99 more »

PC owners can apply new Rage patch, see if it helps

Oh id Software and Bethesda Softworks, you’ve made so many computer gamers mad. Here Rage was supposed to be all pretty and beautiful, a game of the year candidate even, and instead anyone who decided to go for the computer version over the console release received a hot mess. There were graphics errors, crashes, glitches and all other kinds of unpleasantness, with id and Bethesda saying if people updated their graphics drivers, it might all be alright. Well, driver updates alone didn’t fix the problems, so now there’s a Rage patch that just might.

The new Rage patch does lots of good stuff designed to fix the game and make it actually work and look the way it should for you…

Rage is a beast with hard drive scarfing PS3 and Xbox 360 installs

It seems like Rage could cause a little anger among both Xbox 360 and PS3 owners. Initially only Xbox 360 owners were a bit indignant, since Bethesda and id Software announced the adventure will take up 22gb of hard drive space. That hasn’t changed. What we do know now is that it will take up 8gb on the PS3. Now, I don’t have access to some master PS3 install list right now, but I’m pretty sure that’s the largest PS3 install I’ve ever heard of.

When Eurogamer talked to id Software Creative Director’s Tim Willits, he offered a possible solution for Xbox 360 owners who may not be able to sacrifice 22gb of their systems’ hard drives…

Rage and Rage HD free until August 24, 2011

Back in the first week of August 2011, id Software and Bethesda Softworks challenged fans eagerly anticipating the FPS adventure Rage. The companies said that if the official Rage Facebook page received 100,000 likes, then they’d temporarily drop the price of the Rage and Rage HD iOS games to zero. It’s been two weeks since that trial was issued, and the fans rose to the occasion. Today, August 18, 2011, marked the 100,000th Rage “like.” The bar below the challenge

Bethesda and id have made good on their promise. If you head to either the Rage or Rage HD pages on iTunes, you’ll find the prices have dropped from 99¢ and $1.99 to free…

Rage could take up 22gb of your Xbox 360′s hard drive

A lot of things make people angry. Know what makes me angry? Video games that require me to install a lot of data on my 80gb PS3′s hard drive. (Granted, I’m down to about 20gb free now.) Of course, all my complaining about something taking up a measly 5gb will sound petty now, since Xbox 360 owners who decide to invest in Rage could end up sacrificing 22gb of their hard drives to that single game.

Yes, if you want Rage to look its best and you own an Xbox 360, you not only have to deal with three game discs. You’ll also have to sacrifice a big chunk of your hard drive…

Bethesda provides launch dates for 4 major releases

Bethesda Softworks has been quite popular among gamers lately, what with the company having so many highly anticipated games in development. It’s about to get even more popular soon, as most of those big name games are actually going to be released this year! Before 2011 ends, we’ll have four new games from the company in our consoles and on our computers.

So, let’s check out what Bethesda Softworks is going to bring us this year…

Rage gets big update including Game Center support and Mirror Mode

Before Infinity Blade came out, one of the best looking iPhone games was Rage: Mutant Bash TV. Rage was more of a proof of concept with a few stages rather than a full-fledged release. That would explain why Infinity Blade is $5.99, whereas the standard version of Rage is only $0.99. John Carmack of id Software said a little while ago that updates would be coming to Rage. Now, approximately one month later, Rage has been updated to version 1.11.

RAGE: Mutant Bash TV will receive updates

RAGE on iOS has had a successful start. The HD version of RAGE is the top grossing product for the iPhone right now. The SD version isn’t doing nearly as well, but both versions are the same from a content perspective. RAGE isn’t so much a full game as it is a playable proof of concept. id Software is doing some impressive work with the id Tech 5 engine, and RAGE on the iPhone shows how versatile the engine can be. As it stands, RAGE is worth the $.99 or $1.99, but id Software is still going to bring some free updates to the game.

RAGE HD shoots to the top of the App Store

Most of this week has witnessed the rise of the Smurfs. Smurfs’ Village has been the highest grossing game in the App Store for the better half of the week. The constant purchasing of smurfberries is responsible for all the money the game has made. Those smurfberries have been squashed because Smurfs’ Village has fallen into third place.

If anyone can make a great Kinect game, it’s John Carmack

Kinect is going to be around for a long time. It’s going to take some time before developers get a chance to use the technology in ways we haven’t envisioned yet. In order for this to happen, why not enlist the help of one of the most technically superior minds the videogame industry has ever known? id Software’s John Carmack would like to do a Kinect title. I say let him.
