Spread the love: MMO Valentine’s Day 2009 events

Valentine’s Day is quickly coming, but perhaps your loved one isn’t nearby. If you’re in the middle of a long distance love affair, it may be a good time to check out a free-to-play MMO, and take part in one of the special Valentine’s Day events to show your special someone just how much you care about him or her.

After all, nothing says devotion like staying at home, on your computer, for a minimum of two hours, all so you can complete certain objectives together and maybe earn some kind of special token that displays your feelings.

So let’s look at what some MMOs are up to…

Party like it’s 2029 with IGG’s upcoming MMO

IGG may only have a forum up for its upcoming MMO 2029 Online, but it’s still starting the PR blitz to hopefully lure potential players to the new free-to-play game. Of course, the initial information is so far providing only the base basics to individuals – like that 2029 Online is a post-apocolyptic action MMO which Blend Games describes as being one part Diablo and one part World of Warcraft.

So basically you both hack, slash and destroy anything that is against you, and team up with other players to take on quests to become stronger or accomplish larger goals. Fairly typical of a free-to-play RPG. The setting isn’t Earth – since it was supposedly destroyed years ago by nuclear attacks. Humans migrated to Helen Continent, became the top dog there and now work and live together with the Dryads, Electonic Elves, Ice Energy and Mechanicals races that were already there. Confirmed missions, random battling and the ability to engage in PvP battles are the gameplay elements confirmed so far.

The forums are a little bit of a letdown at the moment, with one notable exception…

IGG develops and produces GodsWar Online, begins Alpha test

The people at IGG must be pretty proud right about now – the Alpha test of GodsWar Online has just begun. You’re probably thinking, big deal, these companies release free-to-play MMORPGs all the time. Well, GodsWar Online is special – its the first game developed and published by IGG. IGG decided to use anime-style graphics and Grecian myths and gods to help create an entirely new MMO, where players can visit ancient Greece and take part in battles and quests fit for legendary heroes.

Its easy to get involved in the Alpha test of GodsWar Online that started November 28, 2008. You create an IGG account, download the client, and then request an Alpha key to activate your GodsWar Online account…

Prepare your swords for Aurora Blade’s closed beta

It seems like more and more browser-based MMOs are popping up online. The latest entry is IGG’s Aurora Blade, which will be entering the closed beta phase on December 5, 2008. So, IGG members and game fans should start visiting the site to find out more about the title.

Aurora Blade is a 2D MMO that doesn’t require any download – you just log in and play it in your browser. You create a Knight, Mage, Priest or Warrior class character, which can later evolve into one of three subclasses, and then take part in over 720 different quests…

Fairy’s Whisper now part of Wonderland Online

Igg’s MMORPG Wonderland Online, which is certainly one of the most pastel free-to-play massive multiplayer games, has updated to include its third expansion Fairy’s Whisper. This news comes shortly after the launch of the new Scorpio server on November 11, 2008. The new update means there are more characters, things to do and places to see. Plus, you can have your character pick a fighter or mage class.

The Fighter and Mage classes, and the new rebirth system, are probably the highlight of Wonderland Online: Fairy’s Whisper. Level 100 players can be reborn by taking the Accession Official’s quest, and can then choose to be…

Zu Online Fight in the Righteous Pagoda update details revealed

Today is certainly the day for free-to-play, online game updates. The latest is an announcement from IGG concerning Zu Online‘s Fight in the Righteous Pagoda version update. A definite date hasn’t been set for the release of the latest version of the free-to-play, mmorpg, but IGG confirms that it will be released before the end of October, 2008.

IGG has created a special page for Zu Online – Fighting in the Righteous Pagoda that discusses the version’s new features and also chronicles updates on the game update. The three major additions are the Justice Killer opponents in the Righteous Pagoda, which drop rare items and give lots of experience, outfits that will allow players to change their avatar’s gender and the ability to create level 6 Epic gear for their avatars…
