On December 6, the Xbox Live dashboard update will be pushed to all Xbox Live members. Along with the new look will come new video services from a wide variety of content providers. Verizon is one of the companies that partnered with Microsoft to bring certain features from its FiOS TV service to the console. Driver: San Francisco on PC won’t play without the internet
Oh Ubisoft, we thought these extreme DRM methods were behind us. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. When Driver: San Francisco releases for PC, it will need the internet in order to function. That’s typical of a lot of PC titles these days, but the connection for Driver has to be active all the time.
Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood on PC won’t require a constant internet connection
Score one point for DRM Ubisoft DRM haters! The PC version of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood will be free of the shackles of always connected DRM methods when it releases on March 22. This means you won’t need to be constantly connected to the internet to play the single-player campaign. Multiplayer will obviously require an internet connection. Ubisoft previously patched out this kind of DRM for Assassin’s Creed 2 and Splinter Cell: Conviction.
Gaikai CEO expects TV makers to embrace streaming games
We’ve been covering cloud-based gaming companies such as OnLive and Gaikai for a little while now. Cloud gaming is far from perfect, but it presents an opportunity for more gamers to experience titles in a different way. Streaming games digitally also saves a videogame company money in the long run. So far cloud gaming has been released to the public through PCs and Macs, but that’s changing. OnLive will release its television-based Microconsole before 2011. Gaikai’s CEO David Perry believes television makers will adapt to cloud gaming by making more of its product compatible with the internet.

Meeting strange people from the internet has always been dangerous but sometimes the allure of a good deal is too hard for some to pass up. Unfortunately for an Illinois man, the allure for buying a PS3 in a parking lot cost him $250 and his dignity.
Man vs. Zombies: Telling a tale through Twitter
For those of you who live under a rock and are unfamiliar with Twitter, it is one of the biggest sites for social networking or just sharing your opinions with the world through updates and link sharing.
But what if we could use Twitter for more then just letting the world know that we just got back from the dentist and are skipping work today? Perhaps it could be used to tell ongoing stories. Well, actually, now it is being used for that.
Opinion: Blockbuster offering movies as downloads, games might be next
No doubt following in the footsteps of Netflix, Blockbuster has also decided to bring movies to other media outlets as well.
The movies offered will be a combination of Blockbuster and CinemaNow movies, which Sonic acquired last year. The company is hoping to be able to stream videos through the Xbox 360 like Netflix.
Will video games be next? Blockbuster offers the rental of video games at their stores and through the mail, so it would only make since to include these in their new package deals…
