The Avengers game that never was

Earlier this month, THQ underwent a restructuring process. The result of the restructuring caused a couple Australian studios to close in addition to layoffs in Phoenix. Sometimes when studios close, projects they were working on cease to exist. It now appears that the Australian arm of THQ was planning on making a game based on The Avengers before it closed.

Gamertell Review: Iron Man 2 (the movie)

Marvel’s shiny toy of the silver screen proves to be quite an enjoyable movie even if a little tarnished in parts. Click through to find out why you should get the big bucket of corn and plan to park your keaster in the seat for Iron Man 2…

Iron Man pinball tournaments announced for four cities

Stern Pinball, makers of arcade-quality pinball machines, has announced a series of US pinball tournaments promoting its Iron Man pinball machine.

There are current four locations across the US and the event requires a $5 admission fee. The parties/tourneys all coincide with the movie’s release, May 7, 2010, and Stern promises “4 Grand Prize Winners” (likely one per location). Exact prizes were note indicated.

Alternate Disk-Tractions: Iron Man: the complete series on DVD

Oh man, I forgot how incredible awesome ’90s graphics were. First you have the slow moving action, the jumpy scene changes and the awesome expressions on the characters faces. It reminds me of being ten years old again and watching TV on a Saturday morning. You might also recognize a lot of the voice actors, like War Machine who is voiced by the dad from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air James Avery.

Bullet-Point Preview: Iron Man 2 (movie)

I saw an advance screening of Iron Man 2 this evening and it was… as usual I’m not allowed to actually review it until it hits theaters on May 7, 2010.

So, instead, here’s a slightly enigmatic, purposefully partially vague yet point-on bullet-point preview of Iron Man 2 directed by Jon Favreau (also on screen as Happy Hogan) and starring Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark), Don Cheadle (Lt. Col. James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes), Scarlett Johansson (Natalie Rushman), Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Sam Rockwell (Justin Hammer) and Mickey Rourke (Ivan Vanko).

Don’t forget about Free Comic Book Day 2010

It’s your friendly annual reminder to go out and visit your friendly neighborhood comic shop and pick up some free comics.

Free Comic Book Day is an annual event that takes place the first Saturday in May (May 1, 2010) to help generate – or regenerate – interest in comic books.

A lot of the big comic companies release titles for the day and, depending on your shop, you can often find a few decent indies as well. Some even dump out those quarter boxes simply to get them out of the store.

Complete Iron Man 2 Xbox 360 achievements list

Since it isn’t out yet, I’m not going to speak to the quality of the upcoming Iron Man 2 movie game. Actually, I have a pretty good idea. The history of movie-based games tells us it will likely fall squarely into the “2 out of 5 stars” category.

That’s not what important about the game anyhow.

What’s important is the sweet, sweet 1,000 GamerScore points for the Xbox 360 it offers.

My Shepard is Iron Man

Ace Shepard is a fan of Iron Man. When he’s not destroying Geth or hitting on shipmates, you can find him reading futuristic Marvel comic books and dreaming of a time when armor wasn’t so commonplace. Ace Shepard realizes that Tony Stark and War Machine are long dead and he’s the only one that can take up their mantel. Ace Shepard is Iron Man.

Iron Man 2 and 3 in the pipeline, Downey Jr. to star

Did you love the snarky bad-assery that was this summer’s blockbuster Iron Man? Well, good, because there’s there’s a whole lot more Tony Stark in your future. ICV2 is reporting that star Robert Downey Jr. has signed on for two sequels, as well as the upcoming The Avengers. It’s all part of a four picture more »
