L.A. Noire freezing not caused by PS3 firmware or game disc
Sony and Rockstar Games just made a joint statement on the PlayStation Blog addressing the overheating and freezing issues players are experiencing with L.A. Noire. Rockstar originally said PS3 firmware 3.61 was to blame for the overheating and subsequent game freezes, but it retracted that statement shortly afterwards. The two companies are now saying that neither the game or the PS3 firmware is to blame.

L.A. Noire was a huge release this week and most critics seem to love it. However the experience is a completely different story when you discover what regular customers are going through. L.A. Noire is causing major problems on both Xbox 360 and PS3. Numerous players on the Rockstar Support forums and other locations are complaining about game and console freezes that are so frequent, the game has been rendered unplayable.
THQ fills the public in on Homefront updates
Homefront is getting hammered with bugs at the moment. Many users were complaining about console freezes and other problems involving multiplayer. A patch was released for the PS3 version of Homefront that was supposed to iron out the biggest problems. Some problems are still hanging around, but THQ and Kaos Studios are keeping players informed every step of the way. Over the weekend, THQ listed a bunch of problems that the Homefront developers are working on, along with some possible fixes.
Crysis 2 multiplayer demo is in crisis mode
The Crysis 2 multiplayer demo was released on Xbox Live yesterday (January 25, 2011). Upon starting the demo and choosing a save location for data, many players (including myself) started experiencing all kinds of connection issues. Crytek is aware of these problems and is on the case.

Shank on XBLA having problems, a fix is promised
Shank is suffering from stuttering cutscenes and longer loading times on the Xbox 360. Klei initially believed part of this problem is due to the speed at which older Xbox 360′s access data on its hard drive. Now the developer states the issues are on their end and the Xbox 360 isn’t to blame. These issues slipped by Klei Entertainment because Shank worked just fine on its Xbox 360 development kits. Furthermore, there is a glitch which may prohibit two achievements from appearing after unlocking the trial version of Shank.
Red Dead Redemption multiplayer still broken after fix
My Xbox 360 is plugged directly into a router so the connection is always constant. I played RDR at 2am following the fix and everything worked fine for about 10 minutes. At that point I was removed from the match due to “connection problems with other players.”
PS3 firmware 2.42 causing isolated problems
A few reports have been coming in from PS3 owners claiming the latest PS3 2.42 firmware is causing some serious problems. The most common problems allege the PS3 has trouble reading Blu-ray discs and staying connected to online games.
