Mojang’s got its April Fools’ gag in effect, and it playfully pokes at Valve’s Team Fortress 2. More specifically, at the cash shop. See, there’s now a fake Minecraft microtransaction shop filled with all kinds of ridiculous and overpriced items. Oh, and Steve Co. Supply Crates have been added to the game.

Since the Steve Co. boxes might be what leads you to The Minecraft Store cash shop, let’s start there…

On April 1, 2009, Twisted Pixel announced ‘Splosion Man. At that time, I thought the announcement was a joke. Twisted Pixel assured me it wasn’t and they were being truthful. Now two years later, Ms. ‘Splosion Man has come onto the scene. Today’s April 1 announcement from Twisted Pixel is not genuine, but it’s still funny. In the alternate universe that only appears on April Fool’s Day, Twisted Pixel has teamed up with The Home Depot to make an accessory for The Gunstringer.

Blizzard has gone all out with it’s April 1, 2011 pranks today. If you’ve got access to the internet, then you have got to visit the special Diablo III, StarCraft: Motion Overdrive and World of Warcraft websites it has put up today. Even if you don’t play the games, you’ll still appreciate the efforts the company went to in an attempt to make people smile.

It’s April Fool’s, which means it’s time for fake press releases and announcements! Nyko’s got a pretty good one this year. We know the company has been working on 3DS accessories and peripherals, but none can compare to the 3D Glasses for the 3DS. Turns out one of the best April Fools 2010 jokes hasn’t been revealed until now. GameStation, a United Kingdom video game store chain decided to have a little fun with online customers who don’t read the terms and conditions before placing orders. On April 1, 2010, an additional clause was added to the standard legal spiel that gave the store custody of customers’ souls.

Here’s the exact clause GameStation put into the terms and conditions…

2K Games and Firaxis decided April Fools’ would be the best time to introduce a revolutionary new feature present in Sid Meier’s Civilization V, Extreme Diplomacy. For the most part, Civilization games have been simulations requiring players to build up their nations through wars and diplomacy in an attempt to gradually rule as much territory as possible. Extreme Diplomacy simplifies and speeds up the process via a winner-takes-all death match.

Each of the world leaders will have their own strengths and weaknesses, as well as special attacks and finishing moves. For example, the screenshot above clearly shows George Washington unleashing the “Uncle Slam Attack” on an unsuspecting Oda Nobunaga…

For those of you who indulge in the delicacies of fatty snacks that come in a colorful box and an accompanying toy, the recent McDonald’s Happy Meals are promoting Lego Batman and a game code has been stamped on the bottom of each toy.

There are eight toys in the set including four vehicles and four characters. Each game code unlocks playable characters so you don’t have to wait until later in the game to cash in precious and readily available Lego pegs for the same character.
