APB to return during first half of 2011

Last week, APB was reported to have been purchased by GamersFirst (part of K2 Network). That report has now been confirmed. APB has been saved from the wreckage left behind by Realtime Worlds. It will be resurrected during the first half of 2011. APB will be stripped of its subscription model, and will now be presented as one of GamerFirst’s free-to-play games.

APB was shut down in near record time, but its resurrection may be right around the corner. APB had the potential to be a nice alternative for MMO players who wanted to take a break from fantasy settings, but had too many technical problems to justify a purchase. Its failure was a big reason why Realtime Worlds had to close its doors. APB may get a second chance at success thanks to K2 Network.

K2 Network launches site, plans to attend upcoming cons

K2 Network, publisher of several MMO titles, today (July 24, 2007) announced the launch of GamersFirst.net, a site dedicated to all of its current and upcoming titles. The site will contain information and download portals for all of the publisher’s titles, as well as a community area, gamer scene, an affiliate center and other community-based content, including contests and other promotions.
