Tropico 4 coming Summer 2011
If you ever wanted to rule your own island paradise with an iron fist, you might either be very ambitious or just someone waiting for a series like the Tropico games to come out.
Kalypso Media announced yesterday (February 1, 2011) that PC and Xbox 360 owners will be able to get their hands on Tropico 4 this summer. Yes, talk about the game isn’t necessarily new but now we know a general time frame that is considerably narrower than “some time in 2011.”
Little Kalypso making money despite hard economic times
Kalypso Media USA, a small company based in Baltimore, is entering the tough video game publishing business in a time when most companies are downsizing or even closing doors.
Even though the company opened in June 2009, its published its first game, Tropico 3. It is a strategy-game based on a fictional island called Tropico where players take the role of the island’s president, managing its resources, businesses and politics to create a successful and balanced country with happy citizens. Tropico 3, rated “Teen” by the ESRB, is already out for the PC and coming to Xbox early 2010.

If you’re looking for a strategic simulation that will have you building and expanding an empire, then you may want to wait for Grand Ages: Rome. Kalypso Media is teaming up with Viva Media to bring the title which has you carving and expanding the ancient city during the time period where Caesar reigned. A definite release date hasn’t been announced, but it will likely be released sometime in 2009.
