Sony decides to capitalize on Mamma Mia!’s success with Singstar ABBA
Sony has apparently decided to take a chance on ABBA and give the group its very own edition of SingStar. The company has announced that SingStar ABBA is going to be released in North America and Europe for the PS2 and PS3. Apparently, Sony executives saw how well Mamma Mia! the movie did, and they’ve decided to join on the bandwagon.
Since the SingStar ABBA‘s going to be on both Sony systems, you couldn’t escape if you wanted to. A specific launch date hasn’t been set, but the press release mentions this winter, so Sony will probably have it out before the end of December, 2008. A track list also hasn’t been announced, but “Dancing Queen,” “Mamma Mia,” “Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)” and “Waterloo” are all mentioned in the release. Sony also takes it all until December 2009, as it has temporary exclusive rights for ABBA in PlayStation games.
