Enjoy a Wendy’s kids’ meal with Pac-Man
I know a lot of people who are going to be going to Wendy’s today. One of the best fast food places out there has teamed up with Namco Bandai for a Pac-Man promotion event. It’s partially to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Pac-Man series, and part to hype up the latest Pac-Man Wii game, Pac-Man Party. Not that the details matter – what matters is you get Pac-Man toys in your kids’ meals…
Get a free copy of MySims with your taco
When I was younger, toys that came in kids meals were simple. Boys would get a tough action figure and girls would get a princess or pony. The most outrageous thing I ever received at a fast food restaurant was a VHS copy of Back to the Future. Now kids get full PC games. To be more specific, Taco Bell is giving away copies of MySims on PC in kids meals.
Six of the most memorable video game-related kids meal premiums, ever
Sure, they aren’t nearly as fancy as $100+ statues but kids meal toys they are certainly more affordable.
While most are given through those wee servings known as a Happy Meal, Children’s Meal, Kids Meal or a similar moniker, some are purchasable as individual items at specific chains (assuming the owner or manager is nice enough to let you buy them a la carte).
Here’s a look at some of the most notable fast food premiums offered throughout the years…
Burger King’s Star Trek glasses, kids toys (updated)
It’s another groovy kids meal promotion, this time for the recently released Star Trek movie, now in theaters.
The promotion is through Burger King and includes 16 kids meal toys, each with its own sound effect, and four boxed drinking glasses.
Burger King’s Spongebob kids meal toys, Beach Party Cook-Off coupon
This must be the month to promote video games at fast food restaurants. If you head to Burger King for the next couple weeks, you can pick up a cheap Kids Meal with a Spongebob Squarepants toy and a video game coupon.
The coupon is for US$5 off THQ’s Cooking Mama-esque SpongeBob vs. The Big One: Beach Party Cook-Off for DS when purchased at Toys R Us. The game retails for $29.99 and was released march 3, 2009. The coupon is good April 6, 2009, through May 31, 2009, and is part of the mini booklet that comes with each toy.
As for the toys, there are 12 Spongebobs in the “set,” although the only differences between each toy is
Lego Batman Happy Meal toys promote cheating in videogames
For those of you who indulge in the delicacies of fatty snacks that come in a colorful box and an accompanying toy, the recent McDonald’s Happy Meals are promoting Lego Batman and a game code has been stamped on the bottom of each toy.
There are eight toys in the set including four vehicles and four characters. Each game code unlocks playable characters so you don’t have to wait until later in the game to cash in precious and readily available Lego pegs for the same character.
I don’t usually do this but, since GoNintendo has already started the sharing, I’ll offer up two more codes…
Yumm, Pokeburgers
Pokemon fanatics will want to borrow a kid and head to Burger King after the Fourth of July. Burger King will be running a special, worldwide kid’s meal Pokemon promotion from July 7 to August 3, 2008.
The official website (which isn’t open yet) will display the prizes that will come with the meal. Along with the obligatory toy, each meal will also come with one of 12 Pokemon Trading Card Game: Diamond & Pearl cards. The cards will likely be handed out at random, so visitors might have to eat quite a few meals to collect them all.
