CES 2011: Sony’s press conference (sorry, no PSP Phone)
Sony’s CES 2011 press conference this evening (January 5, 2011) was long but packed with a main message: universal content delivery across all of its hardware products. In there is music, 3D video and, of course, more hardware (even thoguh Sir Howard said Sony wants sales to be more content and less hardware driven). Here’s a bullet point look at the highlights and key announcements from Sony’s press conference, hosted by Sir Howard Stringer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sony Corporation.
Killzone 3 beta live, time to blast some Helghast
Killzone 3 is one of PlayStation 3′s most anticipated titles and the multiplayer beta that is now underway shows us why.
Even in this state, way before its release, Helghan looks absolutely stunning. The snow effects on the Frozen Dam map leave you just wanting to stop and take in the scenery. (Don’t do that, by the way. You will totally get killed.) When you catch a glimpse of those Helghast orange eyes and realize it’s too late to save yourself, that’s pure adrenaline.
Uncharted 2 skins introduce familiar faces (Update)
On January 28 skins featuring Cole from inFamous, Nathan Hale and the Chimera from Resistance and Sev and the Helgast from Killzone 2 will be available for free. More skins and maps are scheduled to be released in February and April 2010.
Sony Home Update: A frightening new world has opened, more goodies at the mall
A frightening world has just opened on Sony’s PlayStation HOME and I do warn you. It’s not for the faint at heart. On Thursday, May 7, 2009, the world of Siren: Blood Curse opened featuring the swamp scene from the game as a lounge and an entrance to the hospital complete with a crazy nurse behind the counter challenging you to escape the hospital within 5 minutes. Bodies of victims and zombie nurse (called Shinto) standees stand in front of the hospital for photo ops for those players with the camera feature on their virtual PSP. To play just see the nurse as you enter the Ward of Despair and be prepared to move like the wind.
Once inside the replica of the hospital’s first floor five players must work together to gather the missing items, distract the shinto (zombie nurses) and escape the basement as fast as they can armed with only a flashlight…
Playstation Store Update: Princes and Watchmen Edition (March 5, 2009 to March 13, 2009)
The Playstation Store offerings for the first week of March 2009 should prove extremely bountiful for fans of both the latest Prince of Persia title and the Watchmen movie, as content familiar to both of these items are now available for purchase.
Prince of Persia fans who were pleased with the game but horrified at the ending will have the chance to download the Epilogue this week, while Watchmen fans will have the chance to play The End is Nigh, the full interactive experience based on the movie.
The rest of the additional content in this release can be found below, which proves that the Playstation, much like the month of March, is successful at coming in like a lion at the start…
Playstation Store Update: Killzone Edition (Feburary 26 to March 5, 2009)
This week’s Playstation Store update distinguishes itself from the others thanks to one key property: Killzone 2. The demo to one of the most hotly-anticipated and highly-reviewed games on Sony’s system is now available, just waiting for eager players to snatch it up and test their skills against the encroaching Helghast.
Other highlights to this Playstation Store update include a price drop for the latest version of Warhawk to $20 and a price drop for the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Variety Map Pack to $5.The rest of the additional items are listed below; one thinks, however, that most of these items will simply be passed over for the opportunity to play Killzone 2, even if it is merely in a demo form.
