13 Atlus games discounted on the PlayStation Store this week

There’s no fancy name or logo for the latest sale that’s popped up on the PlayStation Store, but there’s a definite theme! If you happened to check in on your PSP or PS3 last night, perhaps while you were at home enduring a blizzard, you noticed that section of the store reserved for sale games was packed with Atlus titles. And not just a few Atlus games, the ones that were good but not really big enough to get fans super excited. Major games like Persona 3 Portable were discounted…

Gamertell Review: Knights in the Nightmare for PSP

Knights in the Nightmare is a unique game. It takes a strategic RPG and a bullet-hell shooter, shoves them together and somehow makes it all work. This made it one of the most unique DS games out there, when it was released in 2009. Thankfully, the PSP port manages to retain all the goodness of the original DS game and the new control scheme actually manages to make this complicated game easier to play.

Get Yggdra Union free when you buy Knights in the Nightmare

If you like getting free games, then Atlus has a fantastic deal for PSP owners. Early Knights in the Nightmare adopters won’t just get Knights in the Nightmare. They’ll also get the PSP version of Yggdra Union: We’ll Never Fight Alone. That definitely makes up for the game being moved from October 19, 2010 to November 9, 2010…

Gamertell Preview: Knights in the Nightmare PSP

Atlus is working on bringing yet another Sting game to North America. This time, it’s the PSP-enhanced version of Knights in the Nightmare (KitN), a strategic RPG with bullet-hell elements that originally appeared on the DS in June, 2009. Atlus’ PR and Sales Manager Aram Jabbari and KitN Editor Scott Strichart recently hosted a demonstration of the PSP which Gamertell was fortunate enough to attend.

If you played the original DS version of Knights in the Nightmare, the story should sound familiar as it’s pretty much unchanged…

Knights in the Nightmare PSP out October 19

The official release date for the PSP port of Knights in the Nightmare has been set for October 19, 2010. Time to explore dark and mysterious locations once again as the Wisp, guiding the actions of warriors while also avoiding energy bullets when not possessing a body. Of course, some people may have already played it the first time around, when it was released on the DS on June 2, 2009…

E3 2010: See what Knights in the Nightmare looks like on the PSP

One of the games Atlus was showing off at E3 2010 should sound familiar, it was Knights in the Nightmare, the PSP port of Sting’s DS game of the same name. While the game isn’t going to be released until October 19, 2010, there was qite a bit of new information available on Knights in the Nightmare‘s PSP port, as well as a new trailer to help people envision how the game will work without a touch screen.

The PSP version of Knights in the Nightmare is designed to make the game a bit easier to learn how to play and worth buying again…

E3 2010: Atlus reveals some of its lineup

Atlus, a company notorious for teasing gamers with new E3 announcements and leaving lots of surprises for the day of the show, has hinted at its lineup for 2010. And what a lineup it is! So far only four games have been announced, but all four are very highly anticipated!

One game is enough to get everyone excited and alert – Trine 2.

Gamertell Review: Knights in the Nightmare for DS

When you think niche title, Knights in the Nightmare is the kind of game that comes to mind. There hasn’t been a game like it on the DS, or any other video game platform. In fact, it couldn’t work on any platform other than the DS. The required touch screen controls and somewhat complicated actions of the game could only be accomplished on the DS. This is a game that requires full attention, a DS with an immaculate touchscreen and the patience to navigate multiple tutorials.

Knights in the Nightmare is also a title that should look familiar to those who played Atlus’ Game Boy Advance and PSP games Riviera: The Promised Land and Yggdra Union. All three games are part of Sting’s Dept. Heaven series. While Knights in the Nightmare is the third game released, it is technically fourth in the series. Keep your eyes open for references to the earlier games…

Knights in the Nightmare Nintendo Channel demo impressions

We may have to wait until June 2, 2009 to actually purchase and play Atlus’ Knights in the Nightmare, but thanks to the Wii and the Nintendo Channel, we can already breeze through the tutorial and learn how to play. Knights in the Nightmare has just appeared as a DS demo download on the Nintendo Channel, and will remain there until May 17, 2009. You might want to get out your DS and briefly set up camp beside your Wii when you get home!

For those of you who don’t have the luxury of accessing the DS Download Service, Gamertell’s here to help. Yesterday, after finding out from the Atlus Faithful newsletter that the demo was waiting to be played, I hurried home to try it out.

First, a bit of background on Knights in the Nightmare. It’s a strategic RPG from Sting, who also created Riviera: The Promised Land, Yggdra Union: We’ll Never Fight Alone and the Dokapon games. Knights in the Nightmare can seem confusing if you take it at face value without learning more about it. The player is a Wisp, guided by a Valkyrie named Maria, who can control knights who have fallen in battle by possessing them. At the same time, enemies are trying to attack the Wisp, so you have to quickly dodge and move around on the touch screen, hurrying to knights so you can possess them and defeat the enemies. The ultimate goal is to escape a historic castle called Aventheim, and discover what happened in the past to shape what is going to happen in the future.

Like the Avalon Code demo, the Knights in the Nightmare demo basically chops the tutorial out of the main games and makes it available as a sample for eagerly anticipating masses.
