Gamertell’s 10 best PSP games released in 2010
While 2010 was a pretty good year for games, it wasn’t a very prosperous year for the PSP. Yes, there were games released for the system, but each year fewer and fewer titles have found their way to North America. Japan, on the other hand, gets a steady stream of UMDs packed with goodness. The best we can do though, unless we import, is make do with what we have.
To celebrate the coming of a new year and passing of an old one, let’s look back at some of the A+, quality PSP games that we did manage to play. Here’s Gamertell’s list of the 10 best PSP games we got to see in 2010…
Gamertell’s PSP 2010 Holiday Gift Guide
With the holidays fast approaching, you need a shopping game plan. After all, looking at all those Black Friday ads won’t help if you don’t know what you want or need to get. So here’s Gamertell’s 2010 PSP gift guide. We point out 10 of the best PSP games and some PSP bundles to add to your shopping list.
Remember, Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep is not available on the PlayStation Store. So it isn’t a gift option for a PSPgo owner. All of the other games listed in the guide are available both in stores on a UMD or as a download from the PlayStation Store…
Spoiler Alert: Lunar Silver Star Harmony
There are times where a game is released where you really want to know what happened but you either can’t or don’t want to buy or play it. To help you out, Gamertell offers Spoiler Alert. We’ll play the games and tell you what happened so you don’t have to spend, or waste, your time on it. This week, we’re looking at Lunar: Silver Star Harmony, the PSP RPG from XSeed. Prepare to be spoiled.
Gamertell Review: Lunar: Silver Star Harmony for PSP
Simply put, Lunar is a classic game and each incarnation of it is appreciated by RPG fans for what it offers. Lunar: Silver Star Harmony isn’t absolutely perfect, but it is an admirable portable remake that is worth picking up. All of the enhancements nearly make it look and feel like a whole new game.
If it weren’t for the new introductory segment, I’d probably consider the PSP adaptation to be the best yet. However, that brief expository sequence and tutorial very nearly ruins the whole story, and that offense is quite difficult to overlook and forgive…
Limited edition of Lunar: Silver Star Harmony comes with a soundtrack
XSEED has announced that there is going to be both standard and limited editions of its forthcoming PSP game, Lunar: Silver Star Harmony. As you can guess, the standard edition of Lunar: Silver Star Harmony will only include the game and cost $29.99. The limited edition will cost $39.99 and include a few extras. Both versions will be out in 2010 and, if you go by Amazon, they’ll be out February 2, 2010.
The highlight of the Lunar: Silver Star Harmony limited edition is the soundtrack. The official press release doesn’t state if it’ll be a full soundtrack, but any soundtrack is better than no soundtrack. Besides, you’ve probably lost the soundtrack that came with the PlayStation edition of Lunar: Silver Star Story. It also comes with 13 bromide trading cards featuring the female stars of Lunar in various outfits and fanservice poses.
It could be a little early to place a preorder now…
E3 2009: XSEED lineup includes plenty of RPG goodness
XSEED is definitely joining ranks with Atlus and Ignition in bringing some of the most unique and desired obscure games to North America. It’s just announced the games it will be bringing to E3 2009, and it’s an impressive list of nine games.
In fact, XSEED seems to be using E3 as a means to announce some greatly expected games. For example, we now know the rumor about the company localizing the PSP version of Lunar is true, and Half-Minute Hero and Fragile are on the way too.
XSEED’s E3 game list is as follow, and it’s showing the Wii and DS lots of love…
