Amazon’s been doing a Countdown to Black Friday thing, which means it’s been really diversifying its Gold Box offerings and boasting more sales than usual. That’s meant we’ve seen a lot more video game deals that we usually do. Case in point is today. Not only is Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 (PS3, Xbox 360) Amazon’s $39.99 all day video game Deal of the Day, there will also be three Lightning Deals in the Gold Box show up later.

Of the three lightning deals, two are big ticket items and one is just a general game. The clues are extraordinarily obvious, so let’s just get right into it…

At the end of Saturday’s Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 panel, Capcom surprisingly had an announcement that wasn’t previously leaked. The next version of the crossover fighting game will have a card combat mode called Heroes & Heralds.

A legend was born at the EVO 2011 fighting game tournament. Eight-year old Noah Solis made the Top 48 with Marvel vs. Capcom 3 , schooling many adult players in the process and quickly becoming a fan favorite. Those watching cheered his every combo and booed the winning players when he met defeat. It was a Catch-22 for his opponents. They’d be subject to ridicule if they lost to him but hated if they defeated him.

Pro gaming sponsorship group The Traveling Circus knew a very good thing when they saw it. They’ve signed the young man to a sponsorship that will cover his tournament entries and give him his own clothing line.

Capcom loves to milk successful fighting series. Anyone who’s played any Street Fighter game ever knows it. So the whole Comic-Con 2011 announcement of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 shouldn’t surprise anyone. Yes, go ahead and look at your copy of plain, old Marvel vs. Capcom 3 with scorn. Four months from now, it will be sitting in bargain bins, alone, unwanted and passed over for the next big thing.

What’s different about Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3? Well, there are 12 new characters being added to the roster. Only four of the newcomers have been revealed so far…

Kmart’s June 12-18, 2011 is a little sparce this week, but gamers still may be able to find one or two great deals. This is especially true if you have passed up on one or two recent PS3 or Xbox 360 releases, since 14 console games have been reduced. The best thing to do is go into the ad with no expectations, that way you’ll be pleasantly surprised when something good does appear.

It’s like the store wants to capitalize on all the people who are probably coming in to buy a 3DS and see if they can get them to buy some other cheap games too. Well, since the 3DS is probably the first thing on your mind, let’s get right to that. The 3DS isn’t on sale or part of any deal – you’ll pay the normal $249.99 price for one. However, there is a 3DS game deal. If you buy two 3DS games, you’ll get a free $39.99. Toys R Us still has Best Buy beat, since it’s holding a buy one, get one 50% deal on all 3DS games…

Toys R Us has five video game deals running until February 19, 2011, and quite a few of them involve free Toys R Us gift cards. Which is great, because everybody loves free gift cards. Especially when said cards are worth more than $10, meaning you might be able to actually get something worthwhile for free with them…
