Important Importables: Marvelous Entertainment
Every once in a while, it’s nice to look back at a developer or publisher to learn more about them and acknowledge the good they’ve done in bringing people worthwhile games to play. A major player in Japan is Marvelous Entertainment. Surprisingly, people may not realize that Marvelous may have even had a hand in more »
Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns 3DS gets a lucky 11/1/11 launch date
It’s time for Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns! You’ll be forgiven if you suddenly develop a case of deja vu and think you’ve heard that before. Odds are, you have. That’s because last month, Harvest Moon: Tale of Two Towns was released on the DS. Now it’s the 3DS’ turn.
The story and premise for both versions is identical…
Aksys announces Hakuoki and Fate/Extra at Anime Expo 2011
Anime Expo isn’t the place one would imagine a company announcing its forthcoming games, but that’s exactly what Aksys did today. The company attended Anime Expo 2011 and held a panel earlier today (July 2, 2011). There it announced two PSP games with dating sim elements, one being Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom and the other Fate/Extra. Of course, given that both are games with anime series that go along with them, being Hakuoki and Fate/stay Night, it makes sense….
Japan Import: Rune Factory 4 takes the series to the 3DS
Rune Factory started out as a portable series, and Marvelous is making sure people remember that with Rune Factory 4. The latest entry has just been announced in Famitsu. Unfortunately, this news may just break your heart. While portable Rune Factory games in the past have been DS exclusives, Rune Factory 4 is going to be a 3DS exclusive. I guess it’s time to grab that handheld!
Rune Factory 4 will be similar to Rune Factory 2 and Rune Factory Oceans as players will be able to choose whether their avatar is male (Les) or female (Frey)…
Rune Factory: Oceans turns to Tides of Destiny
Rune Factory: Oceans is getting a North American release! Only, it won’t be Rune Factory: Oceans here. Natsume’s localizing the PS3 and Wii game as Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny, which sounds much more appealing and mysterious, if you ask me. Plus, it’s going to make its English language debut next month at E3 2011…
Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns will be a DS and 3DS game
Harvest Moon games are addicting. You play one, odds are you’ll play another, even though the gameplay doesn’t vary much among entries. So many people will be pleased to know Natsume has picked up Marvelous Entertainment’s Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns for a North American release. I guess we’ll need to get our DS and 3DSes ready for some farming goodness…
Japan Import: Vanillaware’s next game is Grand Knights History
It’s been a few years since we’ve heard anything from Vanillaware. Since the 2009 Wii release Muramasa: The Demon Blade, if you want to be exact. Normally, almost two years of silence is a bad thing, but there’s no need to worry. Vanillaware is back again, and teaming up with Marvelous Entertainment to bring Grand Knights History to the PSP.
Vanillaware is known for RPGs, and that’s exactly what Grand Knights History is…
Gamertell Review: Rune Factory 3 for DS
Rune Factory 3 sets the bar for all other Rune Factory games. It gives players NPC party members, a were-Wooly transformation, magic plants, realistic NPC schedules and a rather nice online multiplayer experience. The only downside is, there’s no heroine option. But even that is very easy to overlook, what with Micah’s Rune Factory 3 story being so enjoyable. It’s just a wonderful game that perfectly balances dungeon crawling, farming and socializing…
Japan Import: Night of the Sacrifice Wii will use the Balance Board
Marvelous Entertainment is working on a new Wii game for next year that should be an exciting adventure for older gamers. Night of the Sacrifice (Ikenie no Yoru) is a horror adventure about, what else, college students who stumble about a suitably scary location and incur wrath of the ghosts and evil that happens to live there. Yup, sounds about right…
Jump Festa 2011: Publishers start announcing game lineups
Shueisha’s 2011 Jump Festa is being held December 18-19, 2010 and video game companies are already RSVPing and even announcing some of the games they’ll be bringing to the manga, anime and video game convention that primarily celebrates series that appear in Weekly Shonen Jump. So anyone fortunate enough to make it to Chiba, Japan and the Makuhari Messe Convention Center will not only get to buy lots of goodies and see lots of stage shows and exclusive exhibits, they’ll also get to see some anticipated video games…
