8 Mass Effect 2 action figures will be available in Spring 2012

Fans of BioWare and EA’s Mass Effect series will be pleased to know there’s a whole new line of collectibles to, well, collect. Get ready for action figures. Actually, the odds are you’ve been ready for some time. The first batch of figures, which featured pint-sized replicas of John Shepard, Grunt, Tali and Thane actually was released by DC Direct in limited quantities. However, the second series never appeared, the first series vanished and no one knew if we’d ever see any of them again.

The BioWare Store is now showing product listings for all the Mass Effect 2 action figures…

Gamertell’s 2011 General Gamer Goodies Holiday Gift Guide

Gamers can be difficult people to shop for when the holidays come around. That’s partially because so many are about instant gratification. If a game is due out that one is interested in, odds are the gamer will already have a pre-order in at his or her favorite store. Which means that sometimes gifts that aren’t games, but are game-related, are the best bet.

Of course, there are only so many gift cards you can give. I mean, they’re quite practical and will nicely feed the recipient’s habit, but they’re hardly personal. That’s where general goodies can help. You could find a really awesome and unique gift that’s somehow related to the hobby, but could be hard to find or the kind of item someone wouldn’t normally buy for him or herself.

So, Gamertell’s here to help. I’ve scoured stores and the internet to find the best unisex gamer gifts that aren’t actually games that are under $50. That way you can make someone happy without having to worry about getting them something they already own…

Pre-orders for Battlefield 3 from Origin come with a free game

EA really, really wants gamers to use Origin. It knows if it can convince gamers to give the service a try just once, it can make long-time customers out of us. Of course, EA needed to tap into the alluring power of Battlefield 3 to lure customers in since Battlefield 3 isn’t being sold on Steam. Pre-orders are already coming with free DLC and access to the Battlefield 3 multiplayer beta, but it will also come with a free game.

Kmart’s June 12 – 18, 2011 ad has an Xbox 360 deal and 16 sale games

Kmart’s June 12-18, 2011 is a little sparce this week, but gamers still may be able to find one or two great deals. This is especially true if you have passed up on one or two recent PS3 or Xbox 360 releases, since 14 console games have been reduced. The best thing to do is go into the ad with no expectations, that way you’ll be pleasantly surprised when something good does appear.

As usual, there’s a console deal…

Get ready for a Mass Effect anime

You loved playing Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, so EA and Funimation are betting you’ll like watching it too. The two entertainment powerhouses are working with T.O Entertainment to put together a Mass Effect anime. Well, techincally an animated, direct to video movie. So I guess that would make it a Mass Effect OVA (original video animation).

There are no details on the Mass Effect OVA’s storyline…

All Dragon Age II owners get Mass Effect 2 free

Holy shnikes! EA and Bioware probably made one million people incredibly happy today. See, one million people have bought Dragon Age II, and the companies feel that is something to celebrate. If you’re on the Dragon Age II email listing, there’s an email in your inbox announcing the Sequel Celebration and telling you how to claim your free copy of Mass Effect 2.

Yes, you read that right. Free copies of Mass Effect 2 for everybody…

Mass Effect 2 Arrival DLC available March 29

It has been teased by BioWare for days, fans were aware of its existence for weeks and now it has a release date. The final piece of downloadable content for Mass Effect 2 entitled Arrival will be available on March 29, 2011 on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. It will sell for $6.99 or 560 Microsoft (or BioWare) Points.

First look at Mass Effect 2 Arrival DLC

It was first revealed last month after a title update for Mass Effect 2. A few trophies were uncovered as well. It was reported that Arrival deals with an earlier Cerberus Network report involving Dr. Kenson. Dr. Kenson and her colleagues were testing dust clouds from around mass relays to determine their age. We now have the first screenshot from Arrival straight from BioWare.
