A new trailer for the latest installment of the Halo franchise, Halo: Reach, was debuted at the Video Game Awards (VGAs).

Halo has been one of the most popular properties in the entertainment industry and, with this upcoming prequel, the spotlight is again on the war against the Covenant.

Although the trailer didn’t show any gameplay footage, it offered various clues about some of the features that may be included in the new game…

Microsoft Studios and 343 Industries are taking the Halo universe one step further with a series of computer-generated and anime-styled new short films called Halo Legends. The stories will focus on the origins and history of the Halo universe as well as its characters.

Halo Legends comprises seven stories told throughout eight episodes and will be presented in a similar fashion to The Animatrix, in which each episode is created by a different team employing different styles of animation.

Kotaku got in touch with Lionhead Community Manager, Sam Van Tilburgh, to see how things were coming along in regards to both a patch that is supposed to fix the “Abbot Glitch,” a few other bugs and those missing Limited Edition game codes.

Bungie has finally confirmed that more achievements are being added to Halo 3 as well as several other upgrades.

According to the announcement, the ten Achievements are part of the “Title Update 2″ (aka TU2) which, putting an end to many rumors, is “not ushering in a new ‘BR spread,’ nor does it incorporate enemy AI and campaign components to the Forge map editor.” The other major addition is the “Playlist Ratings” which are “the playlist-level decoupling of Trueskill values (the in-game number next to your name) from Experience (the icon next to your name).” They also assure gamers that the Trueskill values are not being reset.

Halo fans rejoice for there are four new collectibles to put next to your Master Chief helmet. Weta debuted these sculptures at Comic-Con 2008 and are drool-wrorthy items for hardcore Halo fans.

These figures so much more special than regular collectibles because they are cased in Sterling Silver and certain parts of each sculpture are solid Sterling Silver. These unique features makes these figures truly one-of-a-kind or as Weta puts it, “One in the Universe of each.”

According to our traffic reports, you, our valued readers, crave more data on the Halo 3 “Marathon Man” achievement. I will not lie, this warms my heart. It means that there are new players still trickling into the game, a phenomenon I heartily doubted would occur. At the very least, it means that old players who remained firmly entrenched in the multiplayer milieu, that denigrating digital pit of infamy, are at least taking a look at the campaign mode.

In a weird turn of events one of the most iconic characters on the Xbox 360 console, Master Chief from Halo, is making appearances on one of its bitter rivals, the PS3. Weta will, indeed be making high-end Halo 3 collectibles. The announcement that Weta Limited acquired the Halo 3 license was was made at this year’s Comic Con.

McFarlane toys has posted early version images of prototype sculptures of two its upcoming Halo 3 action figures and one vehicle including:

• Brute Chieftan – in-progress sculpture
