Rumor: Metal Gear Solid 4 Greatest Hits box shows trophy support
Next time you’re in your favorite game-selling store, amble over to the PS3 games and check out a copy of the Greatest Hits version of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Apparently, the boxart has been changed, and most would say for the better. Flip to the back and look at the top, where it lists features the game has. It may just say “trophies” after “multiplayer” and “voice chat.”
Funny, because MGS4 doesn’t have trophies…

Spike TV had it’s annual video game award show last night (December 14, 2008) and was hosted by comedian/rocker/award-show-host-extraordinaire, Jack Black.

Nominees for Spike TV’s Video Game Awards announced
Another year and another Video Game Awards show. Better known as SpikeTV’s VGAs, this will be the sixth year for the show.
Love it or loath it the show will go on in full spectacle that will include a performance by rapper turned-video game character, 50 Cent, and a “Gamer God” award for Will Wright.
The list this year looks fairly promising without too much of one game in your face like last year’s seven nominations for a certain alien-shooting game and a game about an undersea dystopia.

Auction Watch: Ultra cool custom Metal Gear Solid 4 PS3 on eBay
There has been some unique PS3 consoles out there made by talented individuals but this one trumps them all by far. This custom made 60 GB PS3 inspired by Metal Gear Solid 4 is signed by the series creator Hideo Kojima which is enough reason to bid on it.
It’s also made partially out of carbon fiber and features laser cut etchings of Solid Snake and the MGS 4 logo. The designer even went so far to include…
Important Importables Mini: MGS4 x Figumate Sweet Snake
These are just too cute. And yet, somewhat disturbing. Konami is teaming up with Figumate to create Metal Gear Solid figures. No big deal, right? I mean, video game companies team up with Japanese figure companies all the time in Japan. Except that Ocelot, Snake, Raiden and Otacon will be represented as girl in the collection.
The series, known as Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots X Figumate Sweet Snake will be sold through Konamistyle as a set of four. Each one is only 7 cm, so they’ll really be the perfect size to put anywhere. The set comes out December 11, 2008 for ¥2,940, roughly $30, and if you really must have them, I’m sure you’ll find a set on eBay or some in some Japanese online hobby shop.

Thirteen of the top 20 selling games in June were released that month.
The oldest game on the list is…
Gamertell Review: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for PS3
Title: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the PatriotsPrice: $59.99System(s): PlayStation 3Release Date: June 12, 2008Publisher (Developer): Konami (Kojima Productions)ESRB Rating: “Mature” for blood, crude humor, strong language, suggestive themes and violence.Pros: Awesome storyline with new twists to the plot in every chapter, great music and familiar and new characters to interact with.Cons: Camera angle is a little awkward, elements in the environment hinders snake’s ability to use a sniper rifle and even the Solid Eye. The game also has way too many flashbacks and zoom ins that often mute the important information during briefing sessions.Overall Score: Two Thumbs Up, 98/100, A+, * * * * * stars
Hideo Kojima and the crew at Konami have really outdone themselves with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, creating a thrill to play from beginning to end. And if asked who I’d rather be stranded on a deserted island with, my boyfriend or Snake, hands down it would have to be Snake and the complete Metal Gear Solid series.

Rumor: Metal Gear Solid 4 probably not the end of franchise
With the June 2008 release date of the next installment in the Metal Gear Solid series just, there has been a lot of assumption that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of Patriots will be the last in the series. That might not be the case.
In a recent interview with Reuters, Hideo Kojima, the creator and lead designer of Metal Gear stated:
“Metal Gear will always be around. I feel a responsibility to continue this series as long as users demand it.”
Summer 2008 PC and console videogame preview
Much like the movie industry started the season with the release of Iron Man, the game industry has already started off Summer 2008 on the sunny side with Grand Theft Auto 4 and Mario Kart Wii.
Typically this is the time of year when gamers have to sort through stacks of games lacking in quality and originality. Summer 2007 was a particularly low point in what was otherwise the most profitable gaming year in history. For Summer 2008, however, many high-profile titles should help make this am unusually more enjoyable season..

Rumor: Metal Gear movie found its director
For years now, rumors have been circulating of a possible Metal Gear film, but little has actually come into focus as the popular franchise that was first introduced to fans back in the mid 1980s. Now with the June 12, 2008, PS3 release of the last chapter in the Metal Gear saga, Guns of Patriots, new rumors have surfaced that Kurt Wimmer, director of the cult hit 2002 sci-fi action movie Equilibrium might be in the running to direct a game-to-film adaptation.
