Party with Metallica at the Call of Duty: Black Ops launch
Get your trigger fingers ready, because Call of Duty: Black Ops is poised to drop in your hot little hands on November 9, 2010. To promote this upcoming event, Activision is holding a massive launch party on Thursday, November 2nd in Santa Monica, CA. I would think it’d make more sense to hold it on a Friday since you won’t have to stumble into work the next day with a massive hangover, but oh well.
Rock Band 3 breaking annual release cycle
Due at least in part to developing a Beatles-themed music game (and building a Fort Knox-style complex to house money raked in from said game), Harmonix will not release a Rock Band game in 2009. That word came from Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopolous during an interview at Billboard’s “Digital Music Live” conference session at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2009 in Las Vegas, CA (USA).
The Harmonix co-founder said being married to an annual release cycle limits a developer’s choices. He also said EA totally understands and isn’t pushing Harmonix to crank out a sequel. This decision also makes sure EA won’t release two music games that could…

Activision might make Jimi Hendrix Guitar Hero game
We already know that the late great Jimi Hendrix will not only have his music in the new installation of Guitar Hero: World Tour, but also his likeness. Yet, it seems that Activision isn’t stopping at having just a few songs of the legend in their upcoming title.
Velvet Revolver’s guitarist, Slash, revealed to Rolling Stone that Activision is at work on a Hendrix special edition game similar to what it did with Aerosmith…
Video games shifting toward music-focused media
Where TV killed the radio star, video games are helping to revive them. With the success of Rock Band and Guitar Hero, it is fairly interesting to look at the effect these games are having on the credibility of the gaming industry as an intrinsic part of the entertainment industry. An example of this the planned September 2008 re-emergence of the band Guns N’ Roses through releasing a new song in Rock Band 2, one prospectively from fabled and constantly delayed album Chinese Democracy that fans have been anticipating for more than a decade.
It has taken a while for the game industry to be…
Metallica themed Guitar Hero game in the works
In 1981, Metallica was formed. In 1983, they came out with their first album, Kill ‘Em All. The album also featured the first of what would be multiple lineup changes in their evolution. More than 20 years later, Metallica is still going strong and, much like Aerosmith, are coming out with their first game.
The game is being worked on with the makers of Guitar Hero. A Digital Trends article reported that in a proxy statement submitted to the Security and Exchange Commission, Activision revealed plans for…
