Good news for Wii owners who missed out on the awesome Metroid Prime Trilogy deal, despite being discontinued you might still be able to find new copies out there. The catch is, you have to be willing to travel for them. While out of town and visiting Hayward, Wisconsin, I happened to stop by a local Pamida. Imagine my surprise in seeing a new copy of the Metroid Prime Trilogy Collector’s Edition for $49.99.

Nintendo released the Metroid Prime: Trilogy on August 24, 2009 and contained three games. It has the enhanced versions of the GameCube games Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, which were remastered to use Wii nunchuk and remote controls among other things, and the Wii game Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on a dual-layer disc. The collection was discontinued in North America and Australia in January, 2010…

Sad news Wii owners. One of the best deals for the system is going to be a lot harder to find in stores. Nintendo has stated that it is no longer shipping Metroid Prime: Trilogy, a compilation of Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on one Wii disc. It’s a shame, since buying it got you three great games for only $49.99.

Blog Coffee with Games first made the discovery and heard firsthand from Nintendo that Metroid Prime: Trilogy was always a limited release game. So this means now, if you want it, you have to search for a used copy of it. Of course, now that it’s out of print expect prices to sky-rocket.

This doesn’t mean you’ll never be able to play the three games on your Wii if you can’t find Metroid Prime: Trilogy. It just means you’ll have to pay quite a bit more for them…
